Washington evens the score over Oregon from last year, winning the girls race 87-130 and the boys 104-109

Spokane WA sr Michael Kiter led late in the race, was passed by Eugene OR sr Eric Heinonen late, and then found something left for a final surge to win in the last 150 meters.  Kiter finished in 13:06, Heinonen 13:10.


Bellevue WA sr Jodee Adams-Moore broke open a close race with a big move at the 1.5 mile mark and won easily in 15:25, a 22-second margin over Salem OR jr Dawn Morgan .

This is the 2nd year for this unusual meet on the campus of Nike World Headquarters, where the spirit of Pre is in the air (left is one of the giant posters of Nike athletes that hang from tall standards throughout the campus

The top 40 boys and girls from Oregon and Washington are selected at their state meets and brought to Portland for this meet.  The 1999 meet was swept by Oregon behind Ian Dobson and Paris Edwards.

2:00 - 2:30 Registration in Prefontaine Hall
2:30 - 4:30 Course walk-through and campus tour
5:00 - 6:00 Team meetings with Nike-sponsored athletes
6:00 - 8:00 Dinner and presentations 

Sunday, November 12

10:30 Girls race
11:00 Boys race
12:00 Awards presentation  (the top 10 individuals in each race and top combined State team with receive special awards)

Class 4A Top 23 runners Top 18 runners
Class 3A Top 12 runners Top 11 runners
Class 2A/1A (OR); 
2A (WA)
Top 5 runners Top 8 runners
Class 1A/B (WA)   Top 3 runners

USAT&F Junior Olympics: All Border Clash qualifiers will be automatically waived from State Junior Olympic Qualifier races. There will be a representative from USATF at the Border Clash to register athletes for the regional Junior Olympics race, if interested.
