Monique Henderson was the 8th qualifier for the finals and that is where she finished in the finals. Running in lane 1, she lost the stagger quickly and trailed throughout, finishing in 51.79. That was the slowest of her three Olympic Trials times, but she is still the only US high school girl under 52 seconds this year and she did it four times. High schoolers fared well in the women's javelin prelim, headed by Kate Polansky's fine 173-6 effort, 4th best of 12 qualifiers for the finals at 6:45 pm (Pacific) Monday. Kate, the US#2 prep this year, was one of four women in the 170s behind leader Lynda Blutreich 190-9. Three more preps competed: US#1 Kendra Wecker 159-1 (16th), Sarah Malone 156-11 (18th), and Leslie Erickson 141-0 (26th).
