| Jeff Arbogast, coach of the highly
successful Bingham UT teams, knows -- they are out in the mountains
running. Above are jr Stacie Grover and sr Matt Haberman
in a weekly run at Alta UT. They are running in Arbogast's
"Summer Prep macrocycle" along with summer trainers from other
regions of the US. Coach Arbogast said, "Training is going spectacularly well as we prepare for the 2000
season as the best ever in the history of [Bingham]."
Best ever? If it's more than usual coach's optimism, that would be something. Last year's Bingham girls were hailed as the best in US prep history and three girls graduated. Stacie Grover is part of Arbogast's "reloading" operation. We will see how successful the operation is when Bingham comes down from the mountain and travels East to Charlotte in September to defend their Race of Champions title in the Great American Cross Country Festival. |
