Rickey Harris got an Olympic qualifying time in the 400 meter hurdle prelims with a blazing 50.07, nearly 2 seconds ahead of any other advancer to the Saturday finals.��

High school stars, especially females, made a great showing with victories in the women's 100 (Khalilah Carpenter 11.39), women's high jump (Hyleas Fountain 5-10.5), women's javelin (Kendra Wecker 169-3), women's 5000 (Amanda Pape KS 17:39.84) and women's 10k race walk (Robyn Stevens� 55:21.98).� Preps flooded the finals in several events and had the best qualifiers in the men's 110 hurdles (Michael Thomas 13.82),� women's 400 (Jerrika Chapple 53.14, Angel Perkins 53.71), women's 100 hurdles (Ashlee Williams 13.58), women's 800 (Nikeya Green 2:09.79).

PA freshman Tiffany Abney 59.63 was the second fastest qualifier in the women's 400 hurdles.�

MEN

100--Three Texas preps scored--3. Nicholas Johnson 10.29, 7. Michael Huff 10.59, and 8. Ivory McCann 10.61. Winner was Monzavous Edwards, Bevill State CC 10.18.

110H Qual--High School boys made a strong showing with Michael Thomas TX the fastest qualifier at 13.82 and two others making the Saturday finals: Jake Garlick UT 14.17 and Joshua Walker GA 14.23.

400H Qual--Preps are well represented in the finals. In addition to Rickey Harris: 4. Jake Garlick 51.83, 7. Trevor Jones CA 52.61, 8. Gerren Crochet CO 52.68

800 Qual--High school boys claimed five of the eight spots in the finals, with Nick Devenport TX 1:52.93 leading the way as second fastest qualifier. Also: 4t. Joe Plevelich PA 1:53.09, 4t. James Doaty KY 1:53.09, 6. Marcelo Dunning GA 1:53.10, and 8. Ethan Smith CO 1:54.80.

Men's PV--Wolfforth TX jr Sage Thames, winner of everything he enters this season, matched Rocky Danners at 17'2.75 (5.25m) but two early misses cost him first place. Only five vaulters cleared opening height of 4.80m (15-9).

Men's Long Jump--Allen Simms, Eleanor Roosevelt MD, was the best HS jumper at 7th, with a leap of 24-9.75. Winner was Robert Etheridge, Northwestern St., 25-10.25.

Men's Javelin--Josh Carlson, Oregon City OR, was a strong third at 199-7, Bradley Wyatt of Southern Utah U. winning at 204-1.


WOMEN

100--Columbus OH jr Khalilah Carpenter grabbed the title with a decisive 11.39 win over Aleah Williams, U. of Texas, 11.47. Colorado star Alexis Joyce, who had been injured, was second fastest qualifier (11.52 to Carpenter's 11.42) but did not start in the finals. Texas soph Ashlee Williams was fourth fastest qualifier (11.69) and was 7th in the finals at 11.89. Georgia soph Tissilli Rogers 11.65 was�
sixth.�

400 Qual--Even with US#1 Monique Henderson up in Oregon for the Prefontaine Classic, high school girls dominated this event by taking the first seven places in the finals. A super matchup looms in the final between Texas freshman Jerrika Chapple 53.14 and California sophomore Angel Perkins 53.71, each of whom broke the National Federation record this year before Henderson ran the fastest HS girls time ever (50.74) in beating Perkins in the California State Meet.�

100H Qual--Preps claimed the top three qualifying spots: TX soph Ashlee Williams 13.58, OH sr Dalanda Jackson 13.58, and TX jr Ranysha Leblanc 13.83.

400H Qual--PA freshman Tiffany Abney 59.63 was the second fastest qualifier, leading 6 HS girls into the finals. Also: 3. VA sr Sheena Johnson 59.88, 4. VA sr Janine Jones 1:00.81, 5. NY jr Shevonne Stoddart 1:00.83, 7. TX sr Raasin McIntosh 1:01.48, and 8. AR jr Tiffany Gunn 1:01.76.

800 Qual--VA sr Nikeya Green 2:09.79 was the fastest qualifier, witreps in the finals: 3. CA jr Heather Hennessy 2:11.67, 5. VA sr Elizabeth Bayne 2:12.18, and 6. PA soph Evelyn Dwyer 2:12.23.

5000--Amanda Pape KS 17:39.84 led four HS girls across the finish line first.��

HJ--PA sr Hyleas Fountain claimed the gold with a jump of 1.79 meters (5-10.5), breaking a tie with Na'Tassia Vice TX on fewer misses. Seven of the top 9 girls were preps: 3. AL jr Kaylah Burks 5-7.25, 4. KS sr Janell Wright 5-7.25, 6t. PA soph Sheena Gordon 5-5.25, 6t. Jenna Grimaldi CA 5-5.25.�

LJ--Best prep was PA jr Cassandra Richards, fourth on a jump of 20-9. Five others were top 10.���

PV--After college freshmen Kathleen Donoghue and Laura Rosenberg took the top two spsots at 12-11.5, preps claimed the next six spots, led by third place MT sr Lelia Ben-Youssef 12-7.5.

JT--Kansas jr Kendra Wecker wins at 169-3, with Oregon's Katy Polansky 164-7 and Sarah Malone 158-2 right behind and preps overall taking 7 of the top 9 spots.�
