Junior Nationals

The best high schoolers and college freshmen compete for spots on US teams in international competition later this year.  The meet is at the University of North Texas, Denton TX, Friday June 23 and Saturday June 24.  Eligibility: 20th birthday occurs later than 12/31/2000

This year the Junior National Championship will serve as the selection meet for THREE international competitions.  

1.  The first competition consists of two matches in Montreal, Canada.  The travel dates for the competition are tentatively set for July 17-23, 2000.  The top two highest place finishers in each event at Junior Nationals will qualify.

2.  The second competition is the first NACAC Meet (North American, Central America and Carribean) for athletes under 25 years of age competition.  The meet will take place in Monterrey, Mexico and dates are tentatively scheduled for August 3-5.  the selection of this team will be at the sole discretion of the USATF and its committees.

3.  The third competition is the WORLD Junior Championships in Santiago, Chile from October 17-22, 2000.  The top two highest place finishers in each event who have met the World qualifying standards and are a potential finalist for this competition and who have gained academic releases are eligible for selection by the coaching staff and USATF.   Selection is at the sole discretion of the USATF.
