Foot Locker Outdoor

June 16-17, 2000 at Raleigh NC

Mighty Mite from Michigan

Rockford MI jr Dathan Ritzenhein demolished a super field in the long anticipated Boys 2-Mile race Friday night at FLO.  Some were expecting a sub-8:40 race for the second time in history or, even, a challenge to Jeff Nelson's all-time record of 8:36.3.  But after 4 laps together, it was all Ritz.  Thirteen hours later, Ritz and Don Sage sparred again as anchors for Rockford and York in the 4-Mile relay, with Sage winning the split (4:08 to 4:12), but Rockford winning the war.
