2000 Outdoor State Meet
In 4A boys, Clovis jr Hank Baskett and Valley sr Derek Poynter duelled to a new state record 7-0 in the high jump, with Baskett winning on fewer misses. Poynter got his gold in the triple jump with a leap of 45-9.5. Gallup soph Felicia Guliford tripled: 2:14.03, 5:06.70, and 11:01.03, with a margin of 12 and 40 seconds in the longer pair. Socorro sr Simon Ocampo got a throws triple at 57-0.5, 169-8, and 191-9.
