Father Judge Relays

Many of Pennsylvania's best tuned up for this week's Penn Relays. A few of the efforts were the best in the state this season. And many were not only Dyestat Elite performances, but previews of matchups at Penn.

Highlights from the Father Judge Relays, April 22.

Boys

In the 400 Hurdles, Central's Tony Fulton ran a 55.4, a new PA #1. Fulton is the 14th seed at Penn.

In the 4 x 800, Cardinal O'Hara's foursome of Sean Duffy, Bob Brown, Rich Anderson and Pat Nash continued their great year with a 7:53.40 (DYESTAT ELITE), and new PA #1, eclipsing Butler's 7:55.0. They were third in the DMR, running a 10:38.11, which is a new PA #2. At the Central Bucks West Relays, Council Rock ran a 10:36. O'Hara is seeded second in the DMR at Penn.

Ron Hillian, B.J. Jenkins, Munajj Smith and Terrance Day of Simon Gratz ran the top 4 x 400 in PA with their 3:17.11 It bettered their own 3:19.2.

In the 4 x 100, Roman Catholic (Steven Taylor, Christopher Comrie, David Robinson, Jamaal Covington) ran the third best time in the state so far, in 42.55 The run was a Dyestat Elite effort. Norristown was second in 42.93. Norristown is the current PA #2 with 42.32.

David Robinson, Roman Catholic, new PA #3 in Long Jump with 21-7-3/4. He is seeded 7th at Penn.

Girls

Conestoga's distance corp loosened the reigns as the season enters its mid-point, winning both the 4 x 800 and DMR, and running the top times in PA in both events. Conestoga is seeded third in the DMR at Penn. Villa Maria Academy, seeded sixth at Penn, was less than two seconds behind in the DMR. (For perspective, William Penn finished second to Boys & Girls at the National Scholastic Indoor Championships with a 9:07. Conestoga ran a 9:16 to finish third in that race.)

In the 4 x 100, Norristown bettered their own PA #1 with a 48.54, finishing second to Largo, MD.

William Penn (3:51.56) was nipped by Maryland's Eleanor Roosevelt (3:50.82) in the 4 x 400, but their performance was the best in PA this Spring. Chester was third with their Dyestat Elite 3:55.20.
