Alejandra Barrientos, San Lorenzo Valley CA jr, took over the national lead (subject to Shalane Flanagan's race in New York) with a blistering stretch kick over Alicia Craig in 4:48.96. Barrientos went out on top and led a pack of 6 girls through a quarter in 70.2 and half in 2:26.3. Simplot Games champion Craig moved smartly to the lead with a split of 3:41 at the three quarter mark. Then Barrientos took the lead back in less than a lap and accelerated to the finish to win going away. Ale was timed in 4:31.8 for 1500 meters. Craig was second in 4:48.96, followed by Hillary Edmondson 4:53.87, Katie Lyman 4:56.85, and Renee Gunning 4:57.69.
