Letter to New Coaches
Dear Coach:
With the outstanding athlete or athletes returning in your program for the 2000 spring outdoor track and field season, we hope you will consider our newly named Flo-Jo Memorial Arcadia Invitational on April 8, 2000. We believe that our meet is the top "in-season competition" in the U.S. during the spring. Our 1999 affair was another big success with twelve event winners having the nations leading mark for their respective events for the season. Twenty events featured the top mark in California for the season up to that point . As you might be aware, sixty-two members of the last four U.S. Olympic teams competed in the Arcadia meet as high schoolers. The Arcadia competition has featured nine National High School Records in the last eighteen years. This years coverage will be aired nationally on FOX Sports Net. Over the years, this meet has drawn the attention of ESPN, FOX Sports West to ABC's Wide World of Sports.
We will seek High School federation sanctions for our meet from the governing federations of all 50 states and all sections of California. We welcome your participation. Recent competitions featured the best athletes from over four hundred schools representing as many as twenty states. The meet date includes a daytime Open meet, in addition to the very selected evening Invitational session.
This year we have done something that we feel will make our meet one of the most anticipated High School track meets in America. Not only have we changed the name, but also we have moved the meet to the Citrus College Stadium in Glendora, California. This larger facility will provide us with increased sitting capacity (over 10,000), VIP lounges and food courts. We have taken a wonderful meet and turned it into one of the great events in Southern California. We are sure it would be exciting for your athletes to become a part of this tradition.
We have also landed some major sponsors that will make this event a great success. Rotary International, District 5300 will host The WorkSeek.com Flo-Jo Memorial Arcadia Invitational. This and some of the historical information in this packet should be helpful for you to use in conjunction with any fundraising that you might need from your local civic and volunteer organizations.

Arcadia High School is a member of the Southern Section of the California Interscholastic Federation and the meet has been sanctioned by the CIF-SS. The meet will be held at Citrus Stadium in Glendora, California. It is located 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles and we are close to airports in Ontario, Burbank and Los Angeles.
