General Letter to Coaches

Dear Coach:

Arcadia High School is very proud to present the 33rd Annual Invitational Track and Field Meet on Saturday April 8, 2000. We are also proud to announce some new changes for the finest in-season invitational in the country. If you have not already committed your finest athletes, you will find this meet will provide intense competition and lasting prestige. They will be competing on national television against the best athletes from across America.

This year, Rotary International, District 5300 will host The WorkSeek.com Flo-Jo Memorial Arcadia Invitational. The Flo-Jo Memorial Arcadia Invitational (33rd Year) is one of the premier prep track and field meets in America, and has hosted over 60 past USA Olympians. With the addition of Flo-Jo's name, memorializing this meet will continue our great tradition.

In 2000, we are again extending invitations to the finest athletes in America. The meet is being moved to Citrus Stadium, on the campus of Citrus College in Glendora, California (about 10 minutes from Arcadia High School on the 210 freeway). This larger facility will provide us with increased sitting capacity (over 10,000), a large sitting lounge, and food courts. The Open session will start at 11:00 a.m. and conclude with the last event at 3:45 p.m. The Invitational session begins at 4:00 p.m. with the first field event and at 6:10 p.m. with the running events. This mail-out includes the 2000 meet schedule.

You will again be free to make comments on the entry form for your individual athlete and relay entries. Our goal is to provide high caliber competition for as many athletes as possible.

The first five finishers in each of the Invitational session events will receive awards with the first place winners receiving the exclusive "Flo-Jo Memorial Arcadia Invitational" wristwatch. The top five winners of the seeded events will be given medals. In addition, two "Athletes of the Meet" awards will be presented to the best meet performance by a male and female athlete in the Invitational session. This selection will be made by the media and the presentation will be aired nationally on FOX Sports Net. In the Open session first through fifth place in each heat and field event will be awarded medals.
