Boys Division I - Boys
Division II - Girls Lehigh 2/4
Detailed Results
In the Philly area boys Division I race (large schools), held Saturday
afternoon at Lehigh University, February 5, athletes picked it up a notch
as they approached the championship part of the Indoor season.
In the 60 meter hurdles, J. Patterson of Cheltenham, set a new meet
record with his 8.1-h NSI, a new US#4. Troy Richardson of Glen Mills, and
M. Bene of Bensalem, ran 8.3 and 8.4 respectively, both NSI. Travis Berry
of Simon Gratz ran an NIC 8.5.
Tyrell Diggs of Glen Mills (6.9-h) and G. Watson of Cardinal O'Hara
(7.0) ran a very fast (and one of the top US times) 60 meters, both NSI
qualfying times. D. Green of Overbrook, ran 7.1 for third, an NIC time.
Danny Coval, Council Rock, ran an 8.54.4 3000 meters, a new meet
record, and new US#5. Coval, who finished 7th at the Footlocker National
Cross Country Championships in December, led the race from the start. Last
week he had been disqualified on his first race back after wearing a
leather bracelet given to him by his brother. The error, which is a
violation of the indoor rules, cost him a DQ. Karl Dusen of Central Bucks
East, won that race with a 9:00.6.
The shot put was won by Chris McKelvy of North Penn, with an NIC
qualifier of 53-4 1/4. In the 400 meters, Troy Roberson of William Tennent,
ran an NSI qualifier of 49.6, moving from US#10 to US#9 with the effort.
Freeman of Chester, ran a NIC time of 50.7.
In the 800, US#12 Pat Nash of Cardinal O'Hara, led from the start to a
1.58.1.
In the mile, Cardinal O'Hara's Sean Duffy ran a good 4:25.8 NIC
qualifier, as did Carroll, from Father Judge, with a 4:30.3. Neshaminy
Senior Paul Hallman, Neshaminy hit the line in 4.36.0. Duffy led the race
from the start, challenged first for Hallman (who had lost some contact
early), then Carroll. Hallman, who had a severely injured hand from a car
accident, ran a strong race, running 2nd for a few laps before a strong
finish.

Results
At the PTFCA's Division II meet held Saturday at Lehigh University, the
shorter longer drive for most school's apparently helped the shorter
distance guys excel.
Galli of Phoenixville, ran a top US time and an NSI qualifying time
with a 7.0 in the 60 meter final. He was pushed to his win by two NIC
performances from Blocker, Girard College, and Nelms, of Strath Haven, who
had 7.1 (US #10) and 7.2 (US #15) respectively.
Hutchinson of Strath Haven, ran a strong trials and finals in the 60
meter hurdles, running an 8.6 back-to-back, and NIC qualifier.
Nike qualifiers also came in the Triple Jump and Shot Put. Ford-Bey of
Great Valley, missed an NSI qualifier by 1" with his 45-3 triple, and
Collins of Phoenixville, threw the shot 54-3 3/4 to easily win.
Conestoga's 4X200 ran a DyeStat Elite time of 1:34.7.
All boys groups will compete along with the girls at next week's
Pennsylvania Track Carnival, to be held all day Saturday, February 12 at
Lehigh University.
GIRLS 2/4 LEHIGH
Detailed
Results
The Philadelphia area girls held their final solo meet Friday night at
Lehigh University. Upon exiting to go home, they were greeted with a
minor, yet steady snow that reminded everyone of how little outside
training has been possible the past few weeks. Despite the handicap,
performances continued to impress anyone who was fortunate enough to be
watching.
The highlight of the evening was another impressive performance by
sophomore star Danielle Rodgers of Penn Wood. Rodgers, running relaxed for
the first 200, battled Chester's Ruby Jackson, winning a hot 400 meter
heat with a 57.3, a new US#9 (from #11). Jackson has run a 57.79 this
year, and was timed in 58.4.
In the 55 Hurdles, Nicole Wiley of Padua Academy, whose previous best
was an 8.94, took a very fast final with a new US#10 time of 8.3. Just
feet behind were Tyeshia Thomas, 8.4; Hameena Landis of Simon Gratz, 8.6;
and Tessa Moehlmann of Penncrest, with an 8.7. Wiley hasn't lost a DVGTFCA
55 Hurdles this season.
William Penn, the top 4 x 400 team in the US, ran a 4:01 to outkick
Simon Gratz (4:02.8), and Council Rock (4:10.9). Gratz improved to US#17
with the NSI qualifying performance. William Penn ran Madonna Patterson,
Tyeshia Thomas, Tiffany Smith, and Christina Smith. The Gratz foursome was
Edena Edwards, EbonyeWhite, Brandi Upshaw, and Stacey Holmes.
Chester, William Penn, West Catholic and West Philly ran a competive 4
x 200, with the Clipper team of Farren Benson, Crystal Conquest, Deshanta
Dalie and Ruby Jackson, hitting the line in 1:46.4, a bit over two seconds
off their Princeton Relay's race. The William Penn team of Juanita
Broaddus, Tiffany Poole, Gorgeious Harper and Tina Carroll ran a 1:48.5,
over four seconds off Princeton. West Catholic's 1:48.9 was turned in by
Tiffany Bradley, Christine Wright, Monique Galliard, and
Renee Fortune. They were joined in their DyeStat Elite performance by West
Philly's Mija Pasture, Jasmine Lilly, Christina Sanders, and Jeny
Wakefield.
While not season PRs, national standard throws came from Arlinda Levey,
West Philly, with her 39-10 1/2, and William Tennent's Pam Kessler, 38-10
1/4.
In the 1000 yards, Ridley's Dana Early was .8 off an automatic 800 NSI
performance bid with her 2:47.8, running alone much of the way.
The top four finishers in the 55 Meter Dash all ran NIC standard times.
First was Pennsbury's Tanisha Harris, 7.3; Juanita Broaddus, William Penn,
7.4; and in a tie for third: Kristen Temple, Chester, and Colleen Ladden,
Archbishop Wood, 7.4.
NIC standards were also met in the 200 and DMR. Christiana Smith,
William Penn, took the 200 in 26.1, new US#15. The Conestoga DMR (800,
400, 1200, 1600) team of Ann Hansgate, Mylene Kerschner, Kristin Montzig,
and Katie Turner, easily won with their 12:42.5.
There were three DyeStat Elite runs in the 800... won by Padua
Academy's Jenn Oakes, with her 2:21.4. She narrowly outkicked Jessica
Miller of Pennsbury (2:21.8), and Madonna Patterson, of William Penn
(2:21.9).
In the Mile, Julia Puldin, Baldwin Academy, won a tight contest as her
5:28.8 was just enough to nip Niya Adams of Upper Merion (5:29.2), and
Laquisha Anthony of William Penn (5:31.2).
Council Rock's Tara Larzelere jumped 17-6 in the Long Jump, a DyeStat
Elite performance, but a half-inch off her season best.
The girls next compete side by side with the boys at the Pennsylvania
Track Carnival, Saturday, February 12 at Lehigh University. Hopefully
without any more snow!
