Colgate Women's Games

"the nation's largest amateur track series"

Finals - HS 200 Meters
Staten wins "the battle of Philadelphia"

Results - Pictures

Natasha Staten, William Penn PA sr, claimed the top spot in DyeStat Elite national rankings for the 2000 indoor season with a sharp victory over fellow Philadelphian Charlene Maddox of Simon Gratz, 25.02 to 25.18.  The announcer billed it as the "battle of Philadelphia" and the two fine runners did not disappoint.  They raced hard from the opening gun, and Staten in lane 2 made up the stagger on Maddox in lane 3 on the far turn.

The undefeated Staten said she is pointing toward the National Scholastic Indoor Championships at the New York Armory in March.  "I would love to win a national championship," Staten said, adding that she will also run the 400 meters at NSI.
