8, Virginia Tech -- Sheena Johnson destroys Super 8 Invitational
at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg VA, with four victories. GarField VA senior won
the 300 meters in 38.69, best in the US this season, and long jump at 18-7
(US#7), and wrapped up her sensational day by doubling 5 minutes apart in
the 55 meter dash (US#5 7.14) and 55 meter hurdles (7.98, 2nd to her own US
leading 7.85). Sheena left out the triple jump, which she won at this meet
last year with a 1999 US best mark of 42-4.75. Centreville VA senior Rickey
Harris wins 300 in 33.74 (US#3) but was injured in 55 meter hurdles and
did not finish. The defending national 400 meter hurdle champion slipped at
the start and crashed the last hurdle, dislocating his shoulder. He was
reported later to be sore, but OK.

(US#5 after adjusting for FAT); Penn Wood sophomore sensation Danielle
Rodgers set a PR in the open 800 with a 2:17.4 (new US #6); Pennsbury

Point Invitational -- Orchard Park NY soph Peter Mendle took the
US lead in the 1500 meters with a sparkling 4:07.35. Brian Boyett,
Parsippany Hills NY jr, won the 3000 meters in 8:49.12, with Joseph
Iaturo, Tri Valley NY sr also under 9 minutes at 8:55.45. Danielle
Coon, Saratoga Springs NY jr, moved up to 4th in the DyeStat Elite
national rankings in the 3000 meters with a 10:15.90 win. Other top US
marks were turned in by Jessica Walton, Fonda-Fultonville sr, 2:18.84
(US#9) and Courtney O'Keefe, Pearl River NY, 4:53.49 1500 meters
(US#7).
