Notes by John Dye on the rankings
Victory in the Race of Champions at the Great American
Cross Country Festival in Charlotte September 22 propelled Kingwood
TX to the top of the boys list, and the rest of the top 10 was thoroughly
scrambled by the Great American and other results, especially in
California. Nine of the top 10 boys teams moved up in the third
list of the season; six of the previous top 10 dropped out.
Previous #1 LaSalle Cincinnati slipped to 2nd, which
was their Great American finish, and North Mecklenburg NC moved
up from 4th to 3rd. After that, there was chaos. McFarland CA soared
from 23rd to 4th after upsetting four ranked teams in the Clovis
CA Invitational Saturday October 6. Two previously unranked teams
hit the top 10: Farragut TN landed in 5th position after a strong
showing at Great American, and Davidson Hilliard OH charged into
8th after winning three straight meets, including a win over #2
LaSalle Cincinnati. Three more teams moved up from the Super 25
to the top 10: #6 Canyon CA (formerly #12), #7 Milford MI (#17),
and #10 Jesuit (#15). Former #2 Mead WA, which lost to Jesuit at
Stanford, dropped out of the top 10. For the complete Super 25,

The girls side was calm, with only one new face
-- York Elmhurst IL at #10 -- and one dropout, Murrieta Valley CA.
