SJSU XC Trivia - 2003

We all know that Stanford, under the direction of Vin Lananna, won NCAA
XC Championships in '96 & '97 and took 2nd in '98 but Stanford was not
the first college in California to have such a fantastic 3 year streak.

In 1961, San Jose State started their streak with a 2nd place finish to
Oregon.  Then in both '62 and '63 they won the Championship under coach
Dean "Diz" Miller.  Members of those winning teams happen to be local
coaches and teachers of the Bay Area.

'62 - Jeff Fishback, taught & coached at Lynbrook from '66-'88 and still 
      teaches at Cupertino.
'63 - Tom Tuitte, still coaches (PV) and teaches at St Francis.
