Summer running camps provide high school athletes with great opportunities, including the chance to improve their fitness, mentally prepare for another season and form friendships that will last a lifetime. DyeStat has compiled some 2008 camp experiences from around the country.

Summer Camp Experiences | Who was the most interesting counselor?

Not sure, I liked them all!
Humboldt State University
Cary, Mt. Shasta CA

Kyle Merber, because he was always entertaining. He is also very knowledgable.
Nike Five-Star Cross Country Camp
Matt, Tappan NY

I took to Phil, because I could ask questions and could look up to him.
Cal Poly Distance Camp
Chris, Salinas CA

Probably DJ, because he was a funny guy. He also had numerous tips to improve form, flexibility, etc.
Santa Barbara Cross Country and Track & Field Camp
Geoff, Reno NV

Fu (Foon Fu) because although he wasn't the best runner, he worked really hard at it.
Nike Five-Star Cross Country Camp
Emma, Wurtsboro WY

JB was probably the most interesting counselor because he had accomplished so much, but was still very down to earth and always had great stories to share.
Briarwood Distance Running Camp
Katrina, Basking Ridge NJ

Peter, John, and of course, Kevin, were all extremely hilarious and uplifting, but the most interesting counselor was Scott (the Monte Vista Coach) because he was new just like some/most of the camp and he wasn’t afraid to ask questions.
Humboldt State University
Sara, Concord CA

I think any of the counselors that were first year counselors were the most interesting because they came into this not knowing what to expect. But, all of them did a wonderful job, and all of the tents really came together as teams.
Steens Mountain Running Camp
Ashley, Lakeview OR

They were all interesting because they all had a different story on how they got to where they were both mentally and physically.
Santa Barbara Cross Country and Track & Field Camp
Dani, Downey CA

Liisa is the most interesting counselor because she had a broken foot and yet did almost everything at Steens. She has an amazing personality, great artist, and she is a good runner.
Steens Mountain Running Camp
Jordan, Boise ID

Peter Scarpelli. I loved his sense of humor, he cracked me up!
Humboldt State University Camp
Allie, Bayside CA

Who was the most interesting counselor? Why?
The most interesting to me was Max King. He was our tent leader of the Kodiak/ Boise tent and he had many good stories about his competitive career and additional humor to keep us upbeat.
Steens Mountain Running Camp
Trevor, Kodiak AK
