2008 Individual XC Rankings

The annual DyeStat XC Top 25 series (formerly Foot Locker Favorites and renamed given additional options available now) are national and regional rankings of cross-country runners based on distance-running accomplishments to date, with an emphasis on XC and 3200/2M track results, rather than a projection of how the Foot Locker Finals or NXN Finals will turn out (predictions run later in the season). Early season rankings have significant basis in top returnees from last fall and those who made significant progress as distance runners in track. As the season progresses, this season's XC results weigh continually heavier.
October 3, 2008 (rank through meets of Sept. 27) Calm before the storm- Showdown looms - One of the best girls national invitational fields in any year will come next week at Great American, where the last two Foot Locker champs (Ashley Brasovan and Kathy Kroeger), the 2007 NXN champ (Madeline Morgan) and five other Foot Locker finalists will clash. Rankings-wise, the Race of Champions in Hoover will pit 3 of the top four, and six of the current top 18. Brasovan and Kroeger have basically been unchallenged this fall in early races.
- A Tonn of fun - While the top 3 from the preseason stayed rock-solid, the biggest movement inside the top 10 was Jessica Tonn AZ up five spots to #4 on some strong early-showings while others hadn't raced quite as well or as much.
- A Texan in California - Sarah Andrews TX stole the show at the Woodbridge Invite, as The Woodlands junior ran 16:17 for 3M, just 12 seconds off Christina Babcock's CR.
- More newcomers - On the basis of big wins at Stanford and the McDonald's at Maymont meets last weekend, Molly Grabill CA and Megan Manisco VA moved into the top 25.
