2008 Individual XC Rankings

The annual DyeStat XC Top 25 series (formerly Foot Locker Favorites and renamed given additional options available now) are national and regional rankings of cross-country runners based on distance-running accomplishments to date, with an emphasis on XC and 3200/2M track results, rather than a projection of how the Foot Locker Finals or NXN Finals will turn out (predictions run later in the season). Early season rankings have significant basis in top returnees from last fall and those who made significant progress as distance runners in track. As the season progresses, this season's XC results weigh continually heavier.
October 17, 2008 (rank through meets of Oct. 11) Shakeups down the lineWhile the very top finishers at Great American and Manhattan confirmed rankings, there were plenty of other changes in the top 25- Great Am showdown lives up to the hype - The individual battle at Great American proved to be the great competition as expected, but the past two Foot Locker champs - Ashley Brasovan FL and Kathy Kroeger TN - clearly showed they are still the best. Further back, Emily Sisson MO and Amanda Winslow GA were the biggest movers.
- Same with Manhattan - As many have said, too bad Emily Jones MA and Melanie Thompson NJ weren't in the same race. Courtney Chapman NY, Danielle Winslow NY, and Kat Lautzenheiser VA (also 3rd at McDonalds/Maymont) also impressed as national contenders.
- Ley leaping toward the top - With her course shredding performance in the Shore Invite at Holmdel Park NJ, and a course record the following week, Chelsea Ley NJ made the biggest jump of them all.
- Andrews confirms - With a crushing victory at Nike South, beating several other top Texans by 57 seconds and more, Sarah Andrews TX backed up her Woodbridge CA performance.
