| SteveU's DyeStat Boys XC Top 25 2008 Individual XC Rankings By Steve Underwood
| |
The annual DyeStat XC Top 25 series (formerly Foot Locker Favorites and renamed given additional options available now) are national and regional rankings of cross-country runners based on distance-running accomplishments to date, with an emphasis on XC and 3200/2M track results, rather than a projection of how the Foot Locker Finals or NXN Finals will turn out (predictions run later in the season). Early season rankings have significant basis in top returnees from last fall and those who made significant progress as distance runners in track. As the season progresses, this season's XC results weigh continually heavier.
October 17, 2008 (rank through meets of Oct. 11) Deep ImpactThe action from Oct. 4 and 11 invitationals had a huge impact on the rankings- Vanny's Victors - Not surprisingly, the top performers at last weekend's Manhattan Invitational had some mighty jumps in the rankings. Record setter Solomon Haile MD moved from 7th to 2nd, Eastern States winner Joe Rosa NJ (also won Shore Invite) from 22nd to 7th, and underrated Easterns runner-up Andrew Colley VA from 24th to 9th.
- Tremendous Trevor - With his record-smashing wins at his state meet and the adidas Classic OR, Trevor Dunbar AK leapt from 10th to 3rd. Dunbar is entered at Mt. SAC Oct. 25.
- Newcomer from Nike South - While Craig Lutz's victory at Nike South basically confirmed his standing, previously unranked Paul Snyder, the runner-up there, jumped into 16th.
- Cali heating up - Recent action in CA has helped set a close and shifting pecking order, with Clovis 1-2 finishers Chris Schwartz and Zack Torres leading the way. Obviously, Mt. SAC on Oct. 25 will help do so further.
- Southeastern sizzlers - Graham Bazell MD (Bull Run MD record) and Billy Matthews (Great American AL record) jumped in the top 25 based on their wins.
