National Boys 4/8: Desert Vista (AZ) – This team is deep in talent again. Chris Ingrassia’s 110 hurdle mark of 14.25, distance star Matt Boughton’s 1600m (4:30.45) and 3200m (9:29.62), and Allante Battle’s 400 meter mark (49.23) make this team to team to beat again with 7902 points. Vista Murrieta (CA) – Vista Murrieta was first in their region and 11th overall nationally in last year’s competition. They are only 57 points behind Desert Vista with strong performances from Nick Ross in the high jump (6’10”), who bettered his mark from last year’s 6’7”; Noe Ramirez in the 1600 meters (4:15.45), and Nick Mixon in the 100 meters (10.91). National Girls 4/8:
Houston Lamar (TX) – A newcomer to this competition, Lamar has a decisive lead over second place Dana Hills. Sophomore Blessing Mayungbe leads the way from this strong team with a 54.39 400 meters. Halsey Fowler (5:11.56 1600 meters/10:45.16 3000 meters) and Samantha Davis (15.25 100 meter hurdles/17’0.25” long jump) give this team depth that’s hard to beat. Dana Hills (CA) – Dana Hills has a strong presence with Heather Balbier’s 4:43.81 1500 meters, Grace Esslinger’s 12.42 100 meters and 14.8 100 meter hurdles, as well as Kylie Hunsaker’s 10:38.57 3000 meters.

- 4/8: Malvern Prep (PA) is on top of this region with 7158 points, led by performances from Doug Moppert in the long jump (23’3.5”) and high jump (6’8”) and Brian Fulton in the 400 meters (50.9) and 1600 meters (4:27.47). Southern Regional (NJ) is second with 7101 points with Jeff Seddon leading the way with a 15.2 110 meter hurdles and Jake Armstrong with a 9:49.02 3200 meters.

4/8: Tom’s River (NJ) has a strong lead in this region with 7219 points. There are four athletes on this team that have leading marks in two events each: Angela Rugino in the 1600 meters (5:09.00) and 3200 meters (11:25.10), Maureen Laffan in the discus (122’1”) and shot put (46’6”), Erin Schweiger in the 100 meter hurdles (15.7) and long jump (15’9”), and Alena Crescenzo in the 100 meters (13.0) and 400 meters (1:01.67). Look out for the 2007 NWN regional winner, Southern Regional (NJ), currently fourth in this region, to make a move. They have yet to post a discus and pole vault mark.

4/8: Amos P. Godby’s (FL) Joseph Franklin holds best marks in three events – the 400 meters (48.83), 1600 meters (4:09.13) and 3200 meters (9:15.18) – to drive this team to the top of this region. Dorman (SC) is second with marks from Marcus Rowland in the 400 meters (48.6) and Christopher Graham in the 110 meter hurdles (14.8).

4/8: McEachern (GA) leads the way with 6588 points with top marks from Rynita Anderson in the 100-meter hurdles (15.12), Michelle Marble in the 100 meters (12.57) and Whitney Nwagbara in the 1600 meters (5:21.10) and 3200 meters (11:38.84). Green Hope (NC) is in second place by only a few points with sisters Olivia and Cara Enright leading with top marks – Olivia in the 1600 and 3200 meters (5:32.6 and 11:32.0 respectively) and Cara in the 100 meter hurdles (17.2). Look for Southwest Dekalb (GA), a 2007 NWN strong performer, to make a move with strong marks currently posted and no marks listed as of yet in the 100 meter hurdles and pole vault.

4/8: Bismarck (ND) has strong performances from Jason Duchscherer in the 100 meters (11.01) and 400 meters (50.83), as well as Zack Christmann in the 110 meter hurdles (15.84), to lead this region. Smith-Cotton (MO) is second with marks from Solomon Watkins in the 100 meters (11.3) and 400 meters (54.75). Look out for third place Lee’s Summit North (MO), the 2007 Heartland regional winner, to make a move since they have no mark posted for the 110 meter hurdle as of yet.

4/8: 2007 Midwest NWN regional winner, Warren Central (IN), leads the way in this region yet again. With an eighth place national ranking so far, D’Juan Richardson has a strong mark in the 110 meter hurdles (14.3) and Michael Campbell in the 100 meters (10.9). Rolling Meadows (IL) is in second place led by a stellar mark from Mik Viken in the pole vault of 16’6”.

4/8: Westfield (IN) is in first place in this region led by marks from Waverly Neer in the 3200 meters (11:06.65) and one mile (5:12.22), and Sarah Kinnaman in the pole vault (11’0”). Westfield led the field last year in this region for most of the season. Wayne (OH) is in second with nice marks from Janelle Avery in the 3200 meters (11:40.17) and 1600 meters (5:19.99).

Houston Lamar (TX) leads the way both regionally and nationally with a strong team. See the national report for more on these great athletes’ performances. Brenham (TX), a strong team along with its boys’ team, has strong performances from Erika Williams in the 100 meters (12.30) and Chantel Bratton in the shot put (42’6.5”).

Desert Edge (AZ) is in second place with strong performances from Deandre Thomas in the 100 meter hurdles (14.7) and Steven Magana in the long jump (21’4”) and high jump (6’6”). Damonte Ranch (NV) is in third with Javon Marshbanks leading the way with three top marks in the 100 meters (11.43), 110 meter hurdles (15.19) and long jump (21’4”).

4/8: Desert Vista (AZ) is a strong team all around with good group of young ladies leading the way: Freshmen Alisha Maxwell in the 100 meters (13.05), Sydnee Freeman in the 400 meters (59.14), sophomores Shayleh Simpson in the high jump (5’0”) and pole vault (11’6”), and Courtney Kastelic in the discus (101’10”) and shot put (33’4”), and Paige Pyper in the 1600 meters (5:23.96) are the examples. Xavier College Prep (AZ) is in second with distance sensation Jessica Tonn leading the way with marks in the 1600 meters of 4:52.0 and 3200 meters of 10:43.21.

4/8: Vista Murrieta is at the top of this tough region with 7845 points, as well as number two in the nation. See the National boys report for more details. Los Gatos is a strong second place with Nico Weiler’s elite pole vault performance of 17’2”, as well as Michael Johnson’s 3000 meter run of 8:40.72 and Dylan Shawhan’s 4:06.56 1500 meter. Mission Viejo rounds out this tight region with 7784 points with strong performances from distance specialist James Cameron in the 1600 (4:13.8) and 3200 meters (9:23.84).
CA Girls –
- 4/8: Dana Hills leads the way this week with the number ranking in this region as well as a number two national ranking. The 2007 Nike Web National regional winner, Murrieta Valley, is a close second (and third place nationally) with help from a talented Amber Middleton running 14.74 in the 100 meter hurdles, and Taryn Pastoor running 5:11.17 in the 1600 meters and 11:01.3 in the 3200 meters. This team will only get better with Pastoor looking to better her marks of 5:06.89 in the 1600 and 10:58.9 in the 3200 from last year. Both Dana Hills and Murrieta Valley have to be on their game with Arcadia, Vista Murrieta and Saugus hot on their heels.
