The annual DyeStat Elite Top 25 series (formerly Foot Locker Favorites and renamed given additional options available now) are national and regional rankings of cross-country runners based on distance-running accomplishments to date, with an emphasis on XC and 3200/2M track results, rather than a projection of how the Foot Locker Finals or NXN Finals will turn out (predictions run later in the season).

Six of top seven, including new #1 Megan Goethals MI, reportedly shooting for San Diego

With the NXN Regional season reaching its midpoint and Foot Locker regionals still a week away, it looks like Foot Locker is still the top post-season attraction for the majority of top girls. Six of the top seven girls are reportedly aiming toward San Diego, including new US#1 Megan Goethals MI. With a couple moderate exceptions, none of these six are on teams with a remote chance of making NXN Finals as a team.
The pendulum got bumped a little further toward Foot Locker this week when US#2 Chelsey Sveinsson TX withdrew from NXN South. Sveinsson had said early in the season she would not attempt both finals, but now won’t compete at NXN at all, where she won the 2008 national title. 2008 NXN Finals and NXN South runner-up Sarah Andrews assumes the favorite’s role there, though whether she would try Foot Locker South if her team doesn’t make it to Portland is uncertain.
US#3 Aisling Cuffe NY and #4 Molly Grabill CA look to be rock-solid favorites for Foot Locker NE and Foot Locker West, respectively. US#6 Kelsey Lakowske and 3-time FL Finalist Emily Sisson MO will create a formidable race at the top at FL Midwest, along with Goethals. US#5 and freshman phenom Wesley Frazier NC could be the heavy favorite at NXN SE or challenge Sveinsson at Foot Locker South.
US#9 Megan Morgan and Torrey Pines CA teammate Allie Billmeyer both were up for NXN Finals individual appearances last year while their highly touted team missed, but Morgan went for – and made it to – San Diego, while Billmeyer opted for Portland. The runners could likely face the same choices and possibilities again this year.
Meanwhile, leading the doublers will be the Dowling Catholic IA duo of Katie Flood and Ashlie Decker, who have the experience of doing so in 2007 (Flood) and 2008 (Decker). They went an impressive 1-2 at NXN Heartland last week and are planning on running in Kenosha.

- #21 Hannah Neczypor OH – Bounced back from disappointing Ohio D1 state loss to win NXN MW
- #22 Emily Nist ID – Topped Annamarie Magg for NXN NW triumph
- #24 Nicky Akande GA – Very decisive win in GA 5A state
