Sheepshead Bay (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won the final section in a nation-leading time of 30.13. Two other section winners had the second and third fastest times in the nation—Western Branch (Chesapeake, Va.), at 30.17 and Rochester (N.Y.) at 30.83. St. John the Baptist (West Islip, N.Y.) was fourth in finishing second to Western Branch, with a 31.45.

Western Branch (Chesapeake, Va.), running in the second fastest seeded heat and getting a great anchor leg from Keisha Myrick, was the winner in 34.06 for the third fastest time in the nation. Hopewell Valley (Pennington, N.J.) was second in 34.84 for the fourth fastest time in the nation. McDonough (Owings Mills, Md.) and Swenson Science and Technology (Philadelphia, Pa.) exchanged the lead twice in the final race before Swenson Science and Technology, the national leader at 33.63, came from behind on the final leg to prevail, 34.88 to 35.43. McDonough’s time ranks fifth in the nation.
