| | Loyola 7:49.24 in photo finish over Dana Hills at 7:49.49, freshman Elias Gedyon anchoring in 1:52.2. | photos by John Dye | Boys 4x800 by SteveU - With one of the greatest 800s a 9th-grader has ever run, young phenom Elias Gedyon brought Loyola (Los Angeles) from behind and to victory in the 4x800. Gedyon’s anchor was a mind-numbing 1:52.2, which gave his team a school record US#2 7:49.24.
Loyola’s other reported legs were 1:59.6 by Conor Burton, 1:59.2 by Mark Gieseker, and 1:58.1 by Anthony Milin. Loyola got fierce competition from Dana Hills (CA) and Servite (CA), which controlled most of the race until Loyola began to close before the anchor leg. Gedyon went 55.2-57.0 on his anchor, taking the lead with 200 left and then holding on as the Dana Hills anchor tried to close in the last 50. | Girls 4x800 by Dave Devine - Getting a major assist from third leg Melissa Devecchia, who stepped in for a sick teammate at the last minute, Westfield VA scored a definitive win in the girls 4x800. Senior Tasia Potasinski anchored with a driving stretch run to pull clear of Great Oak CA and cap a 9:21.86 victory for the visitors from Northern Virginia.

Girls 4x800 Relay
–Westfield (Va) was not to be denied with Tasia Potasinski a 2:15.6 anchor as they race to a 9:21.86 win,
with Great Oak the #4 California time for the year with its 9:28.62 in second.
Boys 4x800 Relay
–Loyola brought out ninth grader Elias Gedyon and with help from his fine teammates he was close,
then started what should be a glorious prep spring career with a 1:52.2 anchor split in running the pack
down. We had Ryan Valdes of Dana Hills under 1:54 as Loyola was 7:49.24 (US #3 time of the year),
Dana Hills 7:49.49 (#3 US clocking of the spring), and Servite 7:52.11 (#4 US time of year) in a great
contest.
