Class 5A Highlights
  • A strong field in the boys 4x800 with winning team Boise boys at 7:48.61 (US #13), Twin Falls second at 7:51.22 and Mountain View rounding out the sub-8 group in 7:58.55 
  • Eagle junior Liz Brandon won the 3200m in a state record time of 10:51.28 (NW #3), beating out strong competition in Borah senior Nicole Nielsen (11:03.75)
  • Mountain View girls win the 4x800m relay with a NW #1 9:26.79 to finish ahead of Boise girls and their solid 9:35.24
  • Dalin Farnsworth (Highland fr) won the first state title with his 9:34.35 3200m run; Idaho distance star Eric Fitzpatrick (Boise jr) took second in 9:37.57 and Curtis Cody (Coeur D'Alene fr) completed the top three frosh domination with a 9:38.34
  • Borah senior Theresa Waybright won the pole vault competition with a height of 12-0, with Caitlin Maulin (Boise jr) finishing second with her 11-6
  • Capital junior Kasen Covington returned from his ankle injury to win the triple jump in a class record distance of 49-2.0
  • Kyle Rothwell (Eagle sr) took the discus throw gold with his 175-5.0, moving him up to NW #4
Class 4A Highlights
  • Pocatello boys hit the line in 3:33.85 (NW #1) to win the Sprint Medley, just ahead of second place Hillcrest (3:34.06 NW #2)
  • Bishop Kelly freshman Emily Nist with first place time of 11:18.18 in the 3200m run
  • NW #15 for 3200m winner Colby Wilson (Preston sr) in 9:20.82 a few strides in front of NTN individual qualifier, Columbia senior Barak Watson (9:23.43)
  • Amber Thompson (Rigby sr) cleared 11-0 for her pole vault victory
  • Jasmyn Jewett (Mountain Home sr) earned gold in the triple jump competition with a mark of 37-0.5
  • Skyview senior Nikki Rudder made the most of her last high school state meet by taking both shot put (42-0.0) and discus throw (141-0.0) titles
Class 3A Highlights
  • 15-1.0 pole vault win for Salmon senior Clint Gosack
  • Bertrand Alcaraz (Buhl jr) took first place in the 200m and 400m in times of 21.79 and 48.79 
  • Kimberly junior Ethan Richmond won the 300m hurdles in 39.78, beating out close competitors Damian Reynolds (Payette jr) who was second in 39.92 and Austin Basterrechea (Gooding jr) who rounded out the top three in 39.94 
  • Sugar-Salem senior Brooke Hansen claimed gold in the 200m dash in 25.84 and the long jump in a distance of 172-2.25
  • Jordan Ostermiller (Sugar-Salem sr) proved victorious in the triple jump competition with a mark of 44-6.25
Class 2A Highlights
  • Mitch Simmonds (Cole Valley sr) runs a strong 14,24 in the 110m hurdles for a DS Elite win and 39.46 to claim another gold in the 300m hurdles
  • Nampa Christian senior Chelsea Barr cleared 11-9 in the pole vault and ran 25.70 in the 200m dash to claim her first place honors
  • Coeur D'Alene Christian junior Elizabeth Stadley won the 400m dash in 59.32, with Grangeville freshman Megan Sullivan a close second in 59.60
  • Kayla McMurray (Soda Springs jr) finished first in a time of 45.64 to win the 300m hurdle race in a strong field
  • Coeur D'Alene Christian junior Sabrina Ewing jumped 5-4.0 in the high jump and 36-1.50 in the triple for both state titles
Class 1A Highlights
  • Raft River Sally Hansen took three golds, racking up victories in the 200m dash (25.68), 400m dash (57.96) and long jump competition (17-2.00)
  • Oakley boys pulled out the win with a 1:32.02 in the 4x200m relay, with Lighthouse Christian a close second in 1:32.58
  • Just a hair between them, Dakota Amy (Kootenai sr) crossed the line in 41.11 just before Deary senior Luke Seubert (41.15)
  • Kyler Shumway (Prairie jr) threw a distance of 56-11.75 to earn his shot put victory
  • Prairie senior Kaylee Uhlenkott won the shot put with a mark of 40-1.00
