South Gray Invitational @ Montezuma 9/3: Kayla Thomas (South Gray, Montezuma) pulled away to a 17:52 4k win over Janelyn Reimer (Cimarron, 18:10). Hugoton (74) won over Stanton County (104) in a battle of traditional southwest Kansas powers. Smoky Valley Invitatinal @ Lindsborg 9/3: Bethany Bacon (Council Grove) won the senior/ junior girls race in 18:35 (4k), with Mattie Loder (Smoky Valley, Lindsborg 18:38) Lauren Weaver (Hesston 18:39) close behind. In the frosh/ soph race Rebecca Strecker (16:36) and Jenna Snell (17:06) went 1-2 for Ellinwood. In the senior/junior boys race, Zach Baumgartner (16:51 5k) and Zach Weber (17:12) went 1-2 for Hesston. In the frosh/ soph boys race, Tyler Roberts (Sterling) dominated the field, winning by over a minute in 17:10. Shawnee Mission South Quad @ Shawnee Mission Park, Shawnee 9/3: Shawnee Mission South dominated the boys race, taking the top eight places. Andrew Stevens won in 10:26 over a rolling two mile course. Olathe South's Ashley McBride (12:52) pulled away to the win in the girls race over the SM South pair of Jordyn Smith and Allie Antrim (12:57 for both). SM Souh also won the girls meet. Norton Invitational @ Norton 9/3: Kayla Lowry (Northern Valley, Almena) pulled away to win by over a minute in 17:27 over 4k. Norton swept the top five team places to win with 15 points. Brady Johnson (Plainville) won easily in 17:58 for 5k in the boy's race. Norton scored 45 to win the boy's title. Lincoln Invitatioal @ Lincoln 9/3: James Farris (Lincoln, 18:24) edged Dillon Hackett (Minneapolis, 18:24) and Collin Trickle (Minneapolis, 18:25) for the boy's win. Bennington (58) won the boy's title narrowly over Minneapolis (63). In the girl's 2 mile race Jillian Stratman of Bennington cruised to an easy title in 13:02. Lincoln won the girls title with 52 over Osborne (64). Anderson County Invitational @ Garnett 9/3: Tony Weiss (17:18) and Brian Wright (17:19) ran 1-2 for Baldwin over 5k, with Austin Hinchey (DeSoto 17:25) third. In a battle of eastern Kansas 4A powers, DeSoto (40) edged Baldwin (46) for the boy's title. In the girl's race Lacey Erickson (DeSoto) pulled away to a 16:03 win over Baldwin freshman Sienna Dunn (16:18). Baldwin turned the table on DeSoto in the girl's team race with a 33-48 win. |
