Free State (Lawrence) girls travel from Kansas to win Millard South meet over Nebraska powers Millard North, Marian (Omaha)

Arlington Invitational 9/9/08

Grant Aden , 3rd in last year’s Class C state meet, led Syracuse to the team title with an 18:08 5k, Syracuse scored 17 to runner-up Lutheran (Lincoln)’s 56. Carol Miller (M-D) won the girls title in 17:23 for 4k, with defending Class C champ Ft. Calhoun (19) topping Arlington (29) for the team title.


Fremont Invitational 9/10/08

Mitch Hunt (16:30) and Jose Nuno (16:58) led a Fremont 1-2. Jenna Schwalenberg (Columbus, 15:32) won the girl’s title with Holly Busa (Fremont, 15:47) edging Ali Gress (Papillion LaVista-South 15:49) for second in a battle of 2007 top three State meet finishers.


W-Club Invitational 9/12/08 @ Wahoo

Plattsmouth scored 25 in the boys race and 26 in girls to sweep the team titles, the boys winning from Blair (50) and Wahoo (58) in the girls. Josh Harshin (Blair) ran 16:49 to win with Matt Holcomb (Ralston 17:02) second. Erin Curran (Wahoo, 4th 2007 Class C state meet) won the girls title in 16;02 4k with Liz Johnson (Plattsmouth ) second at 16:22


Aurora Invitational 9/13/08

Dylan Obermeier (17:49 5k) led York to the team title with 19 points, with Seward second with 42. Noland Brokeimer (Central City 17:52) was close second. Jessica Driewer (York, 6th 2007 Class B state meet) won the girls title easily in 15:49 for 4k with Natasha Mueller (Seward) second at 16:02. Seward 18 edged York (27) for the girls title.


Omaha Central Invitational 9/13/08 @ UNO Campus

Robert Bartee (17:49 5k) led North Star (Lincoln, 39 points) to a narrow win over Bryan (Omaha 43) in the boys race. Lizzie Kolbo (Gross, Omaha) took the girls 4k in 16;02, with Burke (Omaha 37) taking the girls title with Omaha Central (48) second.


Millard South Invitational 9/13/08 @ Pioneer Park, Omaha

Free State (Lawrence) came up from Kansas and scored two big wins, one individual and one team. Logan Sloan of Free State took the boy’s individual title, running 16:53 for 5k to distance himself from Marshall Anderson (Papillion LaVista 17:12) and Phil Scherer (Creighton Prep, Omaha, 17:22). Papillion LaVista (62) outscored Free State (73) for the boys team title, with Creighton Prep third with 87. Free State’s girls, fresh off a win in the Manhattan Invitational over HL ranked Manhattan last Saturday, put three runners in the top ten to dominate the field with 48 points. Millard North (77), last year’s Class A runner-up was second and defending Class A champ Marian (Omaha) was third with 82. Kelli Budd (Marian, Omaha 15;04 4k) continued her undefeated season, with Free State’s Kyra Kilwein second at 15:16. Megan Oddo (Millard North, 15:57) was third.


Kearney Invitational 9/13/08
Kearney (36) edged Millard West (39) for the boys team title. Parker Schoen (Lincoln Southwest 16:32 5k) took the individual boys race from last years Class A 5th placer, David Prater (Kearney 16:47), with Travis Walker (Kearney, 16:58) third. Millard West (43) took the girls team title from Kearney (60). Brittany Phillips (Millard West, 15:21 4k) romped to the individual win,with Kristal Schuster (Lincoln Southwest, 16:05) second.
