Girls Highlights
* Defending 6A state champ Leavenworth edges Olathe East for the team title.

* Kristen Gillespie (SM South) wins the 400 in 58.19, edging Kristina Taylor (Lawrence, 58.42).  Gillespie then returned to set a blistering pace inthe 800, winning in 2:15.37.

* Katie Mona (Olathe Northwest) wins a very deep mile in 5:11.63, with Lisa Imgrund (SM Northwest, 5:14.10) and Kyra Kilwein (Free State, Lawrence 5:15.40) second and third.  Mona placed second in the 800 at 2:19.51

* SM East wins a fast and deep 4 x 800 in 9:42.90, with SM South (9:45.43), Lawrence (9:53.21) and Olathe East (10:00.88) following.

* Ashley Reid (Olathe East) wins the HJ (5-4) and TJ (36-8), while team-mate Courtney Reinke wins the LJ (16-11) and is second in the TJ (36-4.5).

* Brianna Coleman (Olathe East) wins the 100 (12.29) and 200 (25.22).

* Brittany Harding (Olathe South) wins the 100H in 14.97.

* Allie Marquis (SM East) moves late to win a quick 3200 (11:28.07) with Kilwein (11:29.75) and Imgrund (11:36.95) close.

* Relays are the key to Leavenworth's win, as the Pioneers take the 4 x 1 (48.68, edging Olathe East 48.72), 4 x 2 (1:46.46) and 4 x 4 (4:05.0, with seven teams under 4:13).

Boys Highlights

* SM South boys give out-going Coach Mike Naster (27 years as head track coach) another Sunflower League title as a retirement present.

* Johannes Swainpool (SM South) powers the Javelin 217-7.

* Drew Holmes (SM South) wins the SP (57-3) and DT (173-6).

*  Aaron Sawyer (SM North) blazes the 110H in 14.11, with Andrew Pennington (SM East) second at 14.51.  Pennington then blistered over the 300H in 38.30.

* Scott Gillespie (SM South) wins deep races in the 1600 (4:22.05) and 800 (1:57.48, edging Olathe East's Ben Schmitz 1:57.94).

* Terrance Thomas (SM East) wins the 100 (10.71) 200 (22.28) and runs on winning 4 x 1 (42.65) and 4 x 400 (3:22.6) winners.

* Kyle Schlicht (SM Northwest) wins a close fast 3200 in 9:43.16, edging Jake Taylor (SM South, 9:43.29) with three more at 9:46.

* SM West moves out early to win the 4 x 800 in 8:00.65 over Olathe East (8:09.08).
