Overwhelming sweep for Columbus North
Futsum gets his first state XC title; frosh Tapring Goatee wins for girls

- After a fall hindered his efforts last year, North Central soph Futsum Zeinasellassie ran to his first state XC title, running 15:51.6 to top Carmel junior Chris Walden (16:01.0) by 10 seconds. Walden edged Brownsburg sr Scott Vicenzi, who ran 16:02.5
- Scoring six in the top 20 and with a :26 spread for 1-5, MW#4 Columbus North boys dominated as expected. They scored 63 to runner-up MW Bubble Team Chesterton (131), with North Central another 58 points back at 189
- With by far the best 1-5 spread (:45) and gaining a huge advantage with their 4-5 runners, MW Bubble Team Columbus North destroyed the girls field for an upset victory. MW#9 Carmel won a very close battle for 2nd with 178, beating Franklin Central (183), MW#10 Noblesville (186) and Fort Wayne Carroll (186)
- Freshman Tapring Goatee ran 19:07.9 to win by eight seconds. Lake Central sr Dana Payonk was 2nd in 19:15.8, followed by Crown Point jr Laicee Pierce (19:33.2).
