HIGHLIGHTS:
- Big Spring sr Zack Dawson, the #1 state 4A returnee (bronze), obviously feels at home on this course, clocking 15:41 to win the Gold race. Laredo Alexander sr Ivan Garcia, the #3 state 5A returnee, earned silver in 15:49, followed by SA Churchill jr Paul Snyder in 15:53, Round Rock sr Carl Stones in 15:58, and Ft Worth Southwest jr Andrew Herrara rounding the top 5 in 16:03.
- SO#7 Kingwood boys struck gold with 99 points, averaging 16:36.4. Clear Lake edged Cinco Ranch 190-198 for team silver, with both averaging 16:54.6. Edinburg North placed 4th with 215, followed by PSJA Memorial with 232 and Plano with 244.
- Argyle sr Kristie Krueger, the 3A state track 1600-3200 record holder and in a small group vying for recognition as the overall best in the state this year, earned individual honors in the Gold race in 17:58. Outstanding Greenhill fr Chelsey Sveinsson was the nearest challenger, clocking 18:04 for silver. Highland Park soph Sara Sutherland, the #1 state 4A returnee (bronze), was 3rd in 18:30, followed by Garland sr Andrea Torske (5th in state 5A track 3200) in 18:54 and Iowa Park sr Kelsey Johnson in 19:18.

- PSJA North girls captured the Gold team title with 50 points, averaging 20:18.8. 4A power Highland Park scored 63 for team silver, ahead of Flower Mound with 68, SA Reagan with 93, and SA Churchill with 131 to round out the top 5.
- The three top girls teams elected to run the shorter 3200-meter 4A-5A Varsity race, looking to get some experience on the actual state meet course. SO#2 Cinco Ranch girls won the battle today, scoring 102 (10-15-16-25-36) with a 12:26.0 average. South bubble team Houston Memorial got a fine effort from its top two to claim silver with 116 (3-4-26-35-48) and averaged 12:25.0. SO#1/US#8 Keller, without its usual #4 and lacking depth, took the bronze with 129 (2-5-18-22-82) and a 12:25.2 average. Lubbock Coronado finished 4th with 162 and Abilene 5th with 165.
- Vista Ridge soph Ashley Isham broke the tape in the 4A-5A race, posting a winning time of 11:31. Keller sr Laleh Mojtabaeezamani was next in 11:50, followed by Houston Memorial sr Helene Delone in 11:52, Houston Memorial soph Elizabeth Gilbert in 11:55 and Keller sr Kelly Dawson in 11:57 for 5th.
