Lockhart with Rory Tunningley win boys, Vista Ridge with Ashley Isham takes girls

GIRLS
Vista Ridge sophomore Ashley Isham broke away immediately from the gun, to a :04 second lead at 400m over teammate, junior Zoe Galbraith, who was leading the rest of the field. Isham kept going aggressively, reaching the hills at the mile mark in 5:43, :23 seconds ahead of Galbraith, who had also broken away from the rest of the field. Isham and Galbraith contiuned the cadence in the 2nd half of the race, with Navarro's Courtney Hass finishing strong in third place.
Vista Ridge captured 4 of the top 8 spots on its way to the title with 41 points, followed by host Lockhart's 73.
BOYS
Lockhart's Rory Tunningley and James Bonn, along with Vista Ridge junior Zach Ornelas, and Austin Bowie junior Paras Shah were the early breakaway pack at 200m. Then it soon became Ornelas and Tunningley who both made a strong break by 400m. Soon after the 400m mark, Tunningley started to gap Ornelas which gradually opened into a :04 second lead at the mile mark, which Tunningley hit in 4:42. Around the 2000m mark, Ornelas made a strong push to catch Tunningley and closed the gap slightly. However, with about 300m to go Tunningley found another gear up the gentle hill going towards the finish and opened up a considerably larger gap over Ornelas who shut it down a bit going into the finish straight.
Lockhart packed 5 in the top 13, scoring 37 for the win, ahead of Luling with 67.
