BOYS
1. Cedar Park TX (US#12)
5. Georgetown TX

Georgetown had given Cedar Park a scare back on Sept 15 at Cedar Park’s own invite, going down fighting 58-64. This time Georgetown won the battle, knocking off Cedar Park 33-35. The Eagles got a big finish from 4th man Tim Roberts, who passed a few Cedar Park runners on the final incline on the state meet course, propelling his team into the lead. Georgetown jr Evan Hibbs claimed individual honors, clocking 15:49, followed by Round Rock sr Carl Stones in 15:51. Cedar Park soph Jay McIllece placed 3rd in 15:59, now “over” the difficulties which had caused him to stagger home at Nike South and to be pulled by his coach before the finish of the Cedar Park Invite.

2. The Woodlands TX (US#23)
Captured its 29th District title in the school’s 30-year history, scoring 22 points at the 15-5A meet. The Highlanders placed 1-2-5-6-8-9-10 and averaged 15:34. College Park placed 2nd with 65, and Magnolia was the final region qualifier with 76. The Woodlands jr Reed Connor broke the tape in 15:10.

3. Rogers AR (US#13)
Struck gold at its own Mountie Invite, with 19 points and a 16:23 average.

4. Southlake Carroll TX
Ran away with the District 5-5A crown, tallying 17 points ( 1-2-3-5-6) with a 16:38 average on a hilly course, ahead of Justin Northwest with 71 and Grapevine with 112. Southlake Carroll sr Colby Lowe and jr CJ Brown kept their season-long 1-2 streak alive, clocking 15:41.92 and 16:13.59 respectively.

6. Del Rio TX
Scored 42 points (2-7-10-11-12) at District 28-5A with a 32-second spread and 16:34 average for 3 miles, ahead of fellow region qualifiers O’Connor with 92 and Stevens with 130. SA Holmes sr Nathan Pineda took 1st in 16:03, followed by Del Rio sr Richard Zapata in 16:14.

7. Klein Oak TX
Dominated the District 16-5A meet with 21 points (1-3-4-6-7) and a 16:14 average for 5k, ahead of Tomball with 72 and Klein with 80. Klein Oak sr Jeremy Warren earned gold with a time of 15:52.

8. Kingwood TX
Manhandled the competition at District 21-5A, scoring 18 points with a 15:52 average for 3 miles. Kingwood sr Ryan Bennett nabbed the individual title in 15:25.53.

9. Tulsa Union OK
Claimed its 1st-ever State team title, tallying 39 points in 5A with all 5 scorers in the top 15 and a 16:22 average. Jenks earned silver with 105, matching its 2006 finish, followed closely by Moore with 108, Broken Arrow with 109 and defending champ Mustang with 131 to round out the top 5. Tulsa Union OK jr Steven Baker, 4th last year and the #1 returnee, broke the tape in 15:51.75, ahead of Broken Arrow sr Ryan Farrar in 16:00.64.

10. Brother Martin LA
Posted a perfect 15 at its home invite on Thursday, a low-key affair which was pushed up from Saturday due to an event conflict at the meet site.

Seven Lakes TX felt right at home at District 24-4A on its campus, scoring just 16.

Deer Creek OK hit on all cylinders, scoring 17 to repeat as state 4A champs, with a 16:39 average. Western Heights was 2nd with 83. Deer Creek sr Adam Young, the #1 state returnee with a bronze in 2006, upgraded to gold with a 16:15.60 clocking, followed by teammates soph Dakota Buck in 16:28.42 and jr Jared Clark in 16:42.00.

Mayde Creek TX claimed the District 18-5A title with 26 points (2-3-4-6-11) and a 1:02 spread. Cinco Ranch earned silver with 44, led by sr Zac Flowers' 15:11 winner for 3 miles.

scored 29 points for the District 13-5A crown, led by individual champ jr Stephen Case in 16:20 on the state meet course.

Coppell TX won a tight battle at District 6-5A, nipping Marcus 46-49, followed by Hebron with 77 and Flower Mound in non-qualifying 4th with 84. Marcus fr Craig Lutz led the field in 15:27.

1. Cinco Ranch TX
Was an easy winner with 18 points (1-2-3-4-8) at the District 18-5A meet, led by individual champ jr Kristen Stone.

2. The Woodlands TX
9. College Park TX

Met at District 15-5A, but it looked and felt more like a dual meet as the two teams took the top 11 places. With each of The Woodlands quintet finishing ahead of her College Park counterpart, the final score was 22-33, with the Highlanders averaging 12:14 to the Cavaliers 12:26. Host school Lufkin took the third and final region qualifying spot with 97. The Woodlands soph Sarah Andrews led the field in 11:47.00, with College Park soph Ellie Shultz nabbing silver in 11:55.00, ahead of The Woodlands sr Nev Pilipovic-Wengler in 12:06, her best race of the season.

3. Kingwood TX
Crushed its District 21-5A competition, scoring a perfect 15 with an 11:55 average for 3200 meters. Kingwood sr Kristen Hanselka was the individual champ in 11:38.90. Usual #2 Kingwood sr Addie Quinn, who had missed the last couple of meets including Nike South, made her return and finished as #7.

6. Keller TX (US#16)

Met at the District 5-5A meet, with Keller prevailing 36-48. Keller averaged 11:52 and welcomed back usual #4 Ashley Vincent, who missed the last 3 weeks before stepping right in as #3 today. Southlake Carroll jr Tara Upshaw, 3rd at state in 2006, broke the tape in 11:22.02, leading her squad to a 11:57 average. Haltom soph Ashley Flores took the silver in 11:25.83, ahead of Keller sr Laleh Mojtabaeezamani in 11:29.32.

5. Houston Memorial TX
Won its 12 consecutive District title, taking the 19-5A crown with 18 points (1-2-3-5-7) and a 12:02 average at North Harris College. Senior Helene Delone ran 11:26 for individual honors.

7. Hereford TX
Took home the hardware at District 3-4A with 21 points (1-2-5-6-7). Hereford sr Ashley Mason led the way in 11:44, as the team averaged 12:15.

8. A&M Consolidated TX
Cruised at District 13-5A with 24 points (2-3-5-6-8), ahead of Belton with 48 and Harker Heights with 60. Belton soph Regan Tindell earned individual gold in 11:41 on the Old Settlers Park state meet course, followed by A&M fr Jordan Bettiol in 12:00.

Other Girls Results:
Edmond North OK captured its first State team title with 67 points (8-10-13-15-21) and a 12:14 average in 5A. Westmoore was 2nd with 91, followed by Tulsa Union with 94 and defending champ Jenks with 96. Tulsa Union sr Sara Vaughn repeated with a time of 11:33.48, while Westmoore jr Katelin Cherry, second to Vaughn in 2006, claimed silver again in 11:46.66. Enid fr Rani Melvin took the bronze in 11:50.28.

Clear Lake TX dominated at District 24-5A with 20 points (2-3-4-5-6) and a 31-second spread. Brazoswood jr Lauren Smith, the #1 state returnee, remained unbeaten this season with a 10:44 effort, well ahead of Alvin sr Brittainy Robertson, the state #3 returnee, in 11:18. Then it was all Clear Lake, led by fr Brittney Wade in 11:18.


Cy-Fair TX came out on top at District 17-5A, scoring 35 points with a 12:21 average. Cy-Falls earned silver with 49, followed by Cy-Woods with 57 for the final region qualifying spot. Langham Creek sr Nicole Peters broke the tape in 11:45, while Cy-Fair’s #1 was “only” 5th in 12:20, but was followed by 4 teammates within just 5 seconds.

Bishop McGuinness OK struck team gold at State for the 18th time in the last 21 years, with 53 points (3-5-12-14-19) and a 12:25 average in 4A. Harrah placed 2nd with 59. Bishop Kelley jr Andrea Lewis, in just her first cross country season, grabbed the individual crown in 11:43.67, ahead of Deer Creek soph Hillarie Kessler in 11:58.59 and defending champ Bishop McGuinness sr Molly Ferguson in 12:05.58.

Forney TX claimed the District 10-4A crown with 35 points (3-4-7-8-13), ahead of a strong Highland Park squad with 39 (1-6-9-11-12). Highland Park soph Sara Sutherland posted a time of 11:13 to win by 50 seconds.


Lamar TX was perfect with 15 at District 20-5A, led by sr Halsey Fowler in 11:42.


Mt Carmel LA struck gold at the St Thomas Aquinas-Rollette Invite with 32 points (4-5-6-7-10) and a 19:32 average for 3 miles. St Thomas Aquinas super soph Malia Cali smoked the field, clocking 16:52.09.

Amarillo TX won a squeaker at District 2-5A, topping Lubbock Coronado 39-40, with Lubbock Monterey also moving on to region with 55 points.


Argyle TX sr Kristie Krueger won the District 8-3A championship in 10:58.57 for 3200 meters.


Vista Ridge TX scored 27 for the District 25-4A title, led by soph Ashley Isham, the individual champ in 12:33 for 2.1 miles.
