Classifications 1A and 2A in Florida have already competed their regional champions on the road to their state champions and several national caliber performances were produced. Despite no wind readings, there were some very quick sprint times put up by Floridians including a 10.34100 from Jeffrey Demps and two low 21 200's from Sederrick Cunningham (21.10) and Deonte Thompson (21.29). Joseph Franklin, an All-American last spring at Nike Outdoor Nationals out of a slower section of the 800 meter run, had the top distance performance among the FHSAA 1A and 2A regionals with a 1:51.36 800 performance. There were some strong relay performances by the Florida boys including two nationally ranked performances by the Miami Pace HS 4x100 at 41.34 and the Belen Jesuit Prep 4x800 at 7:53.53. More to come from the FHSAA 3A/4A district meets as well as backtracking to some of the FHSAA 1A/2A district meets.
