Boys Highlights
  • In D1, St. Johnsbury sr Kyle Powers improved from 3rd and beat teammate and defending champ Ken Bunnell for the title, 17:03-17:15.  The duo were far and away the dominant runners in the state as the next best runner in any class was Champlain Valley Union jr Tony Sulva, who was 3rd in D1, up from 18th last year, in 18:12.
  • Mt. Mansfield Union had the best pack, though, putting their top 5 between 5th and 16th (29 seconds), as they scored 50 to defend their title and top runner-up Essex's 75.  St. Johnsbury was 4th with 110.  Adron Pitmon and Tom Scott led Mt. Mansfield in 5th and 7th.  Mt. Mansfield and Essex were 1-2 in the combined scoring between the 3 divisions.
  • In D2, U-32 sr Jeff Lusigan repeated in 18:13, winning by 25 seconds over Green Mountain Valley soph David Sinclair.  After losing by 3 points last year, Harwood Union put 5 in the top 14 and won with 43, 68 ahead of runner-up Lyndon Institute.

Girls Highlights
  • Champlain Valley had a much tougher battle this year in D1 than in 2006, when they won by 87 points while scoring just 23.  This year they had no one in the top 8, but packed 4 between 9th and 15th and won with 73 points, with Essex next just seven points back.  Caroline Carpenter paced the winners in 9th.  The teams were also 1-2 in the combined scoring.
  • Brattleboro Union jr Sarah Lange moved up from 10th last year to win D1 in 19;59, the only sub-20 of the day.  St. Johnsbury soph Hannah Rowe was 2nd in 20:08.
  • U-32 freshman Chelsea Evans won D2 by almost a minute, 21:21-22:19 over Missisquoi Valley Union sr Sarah Flint.  Defending champ Annie Mendes was 3rd.  The team title went to Missisquoi Valley, with 44 to runner-up Stratton Mountain's 62.
