What a Sectional Championship -- my, oh my!!! Here is how it goes, a synopsis, if you will, of the Section 2 Harrier plot line. Class AA race won by Shenendehowa by 5 over a very game Shaker squad. Shaker HUGE up front going 2, 3, 4. The difference you say? Shens 5th man over Shaker 11 to 19… cogito ergo sum, the score thru four was 25 to 28 Shaker by three, then Shens Harris, Belensz and Pavlick come rushing in 11, 13 and 14. That is scary DEEP!!!
Now in the Class A Championship Queensbury by 23 over a very good Burnt Hills squad, 20 to 43.
Now, we look at the merge. It goes like this:
1. Shenendehowa 47
2. Shaker 74
3. Queensbury 79
Shen's win here in the merge is more pronounced because of the strength of their 5th man and their overall ability to bring their scorers in fast. A comparison of 5 man compressions bears this out:

Warwick wins the Section 9 title in smashing style over a very good Washingtonville squad 23 to 58. Looks like the seven dwarfs and coaches St. Lawrence and Potter are off to see the wizard up in Canada this weekend. FYI – the NYSPHSAA Championship is in a place called Norwood-Norfolk which might as well be Canada. I once spent a week in Norwood one night and man, was it cold.

No athletic contest this past weekend.
These two Catholic High School Athletic Association, aka CHSAA, giants will go to battle this weekend in the CHSAA Intersectional Championships at Van Cortlandt Park. Race time on Saturday, November 10 is 1:05 PM. To those outside the greater NYC area this race is in all actuality the Catholic States. If past protocol is any indicator the Catholic league will send its top 5 finishers to the Federation Meet set for Saturday, November 17 at Bowdoin State Park. Other top teams vying for a place at the de facto NYS XC Championships are St. Anthony’s, Fordham Prep, Monsignor Farrell, Iona Prep and Bishop Ford.
# 9. Arlington
The Admirals in a very close over an up and coming Scarsdale team! The Julian Sheinbaum led Scarsdale squad had a marvelous race in the Section 1 title tilt! A slim seven point margin of victory for Arlington.

A great race up in Section 3! The Liverpudlians escape Jones Beach with the narrowest of wins over a hard charging FM team with Baldwinsville just a few points back. All three of these teams should receive a bid for the big show at Bowdoin on November 17.
