Friday Highlights Mostly a day of field relays and junior varsity races, Friday at the Brown Invitational did include the Distance Medley Relay championship races for boys and girls - and the Saratoga Girls did not disappoint. The New York team, with Hannah Davidson anchoring in 4:59, ran and won with a US# 12:05.36. The Burnt Hills - Ballston Lake Boys also turned in a DMR win in 10:35.21. Even field events on Friday were scored as relays - the sum of the performances of each of three teammates are tallied to determine the team winner - though individual distinction for the Girls 20-lb Weight Throw went to Cynthia Lloyd from New Rochelle with a US#2 51-09.00. Lloyd also placed fifth with 35-11.00 shot put. Gabriella Baiter of John Glenn NY continued her dominate early-season triple jumping, with a winning 39-08. A nice triple was achieved by Colonie NY's Steve Crouse, who won the TJ in 45-09, and was runner-up in the LJ 20-10.50 and HJ 5-10. Kyle Duggan, sr at Monsignor Farrell, vaulted 14-06, missing his pr by 6 inches, but winning the individual best pole vault honor. “There was a lot of good competition out there,” he said “it could’ve gone to anyone.” Craig Kinsley of Fairfield Prep was the only boy to clear 6’0” in the high jump, and as well he jumped 19-01 (15th) in the long jump. "[Craig] used to be a baseball player, broke his hand last March and turned out for outdoor for the first time last season. His real event is the javelin!" One of his coaches, Bob Ford, said. A senior at Fairfield Prep, Kinsley was accepted early admission at Brown for this fall.
