Flash Highlights
- In the Boys Varsity F race, new US#1 Joe Rosa NJ blazed a 12:03.8 for the fastest 2.5 mark ever at Van Cortlandt (with the course slightly altered this year due to construction). The mark tops Solomon Haile's 2008 course record of 12:06.7. Twin brother and US#6-ranked Jim Rosa was just behind at 12:08.8, the #3 mark all time for 2.5 miles at Vanny.
- US#26 CBA NJ wins Boys Eastern States with 120 over US#2 Fayetteville-Manlius NY 130 and US#7 Haddonfield NJ 141. Jon Vitez (Haddonfield NJ) 12:25.6.
- US#2 Aisling Cuffe (Cornwall NY) takes the girls Eastern States race in 14:03.3
- US#1 Fayetteville-Manlius NY girls dominate Girls Eastern States claiming 5 of top 8 places (2-3-4-5-8) for 22 pts and a 14:35.5 average. US#3 Saratoga NY girls 2nd with 80 pts.
Meet reports
Boys - Joe Rosa became the fastest runner in the long and storied history of venerable Van Cortlandt Park with a mind-blowing 12:03.8 at yesterday’s 37th Manhattan Invitational. While that fact is indisputable, whether it should be counted as the new 2.5-mile course record is the subject of some debate. Full report
After taking a tumble in the national rankings after a setback a couple weeks ago, Christian Brothers Academy NJ was eager for a shot to prove its loss was a fluke and that it belonged amongst the nation’s elite. Full report
Girls - Cornwall, NY junior Aisling Cuffe was looking for a very fast time and thought the Eastern States Championship race was a good setting in which to do so. The problem with that theory – through no fault of hers – is that there was no one else willing to carry out Cuffe’s furious pace, or pursue her goal of breaking the 2.5-mile course record. Full report
There was little question as to Fayetteville-Manlius’ ability to blow away the field in the Eastern States Championship race. The only uncertainty regarding the New York state powerhouse was its ability to claim what it came so close to owning a season ago Full report

Preview: Are the course records under threat? In 2008 Solomon Haile lowered the course record to 12:06.7 - could Haile's and Carly Seymour's 13:55.3 course mark from 2007 get lowered in 2009? Can the US #1 Fay-Man girls win Easterns title #3? Full Meet Previews
