 Win a DyestatMetro T-shirt

Each Monday during the 2009 Outdoor track season check the front page of DyestatMetro for a new chance to win a DyestatMetro T-Shirt.  Each week we will post a new trivia question or prediction question and the person who gets it right will win a DyestatMetro T-shirt.  The rules are simple:

1-    Email in your answer to [email protected] - be sure to include your name and home town
2-    Place the contest name – example Week 1 – in the subject line of your e-mail
3-    Only 1 entry per person per week

Winners name will be posted on Sunday after the weekend's meets

Week 12 Contest - FINAL CHANCES  - (Entries must be recieved by 6pm (EST)  Friday June 12th )  Since this will be the final contest of the year once again we will give away two shirts..Week 12 winners  SKevin Byrne Jr, Brian Vega and Kieth Lasky

Contest #1 - The girls 1500  will be a hot events at this weekends New York State Championships.   So simply guess the winning time for  the Girls 1500 at the  NY State Meet

Contest #2 - Robby Andrews (Manalapan, NJ) is headed west to run in a special mile at the Portland OR Track Festival.   Guess what Andrew's finishing time will be.

You can enter both contests BUT you must send 2 different e-mails and you must put the correct contest name in the subject line of your e-mail. Be sure to include Week 12 in the subject line of your e-mail and include your name and hometown


Week 11 Contest  - (Entries must be recieved by 10pm (EST)  Saturday June 6th)  Every American track and field fan should at least once in thier life make thier way to Eugene, OR for the Prefontaine Classic.  This weekend the #1 one day track and field event hosted in the USA will betaking place at the University of Oregon.  Just announced is that prep Elijah Greer will be in the 800 against some of the worlds best.. This weeks contest is to  simply predict Greer's time in the Prefonatine 800 this Sunday.   Be sure to include Week 11 in the subject line of your e-mail and include your name and hometown - Week 11 winner Sean Hawthorne

Week 10 Contest  - (Entries must be recieved by 10pm (EST)  Friday May 29th)  As the season slowly starts to close there are less and less chances to win a Metro T shirt.  This week the elite stars of the track world will eb coming to New York for the IAAF Reebok Grand Prix.  Included on the order of events will be a number of races for high schools. This weeks contest is to  simply predict the winning time of the HS Boys 4 x 800.   Be sure to include Week 8 in the subject line of your e-mail and include your name and hometown Week 10 winner Matthew Miller from Blauvelt, NY

The meet will be shown live on NBC on the 30th from 4:30pm - 6:00pm

Week 9 Contest  - (Entries must be recieved by 6pm (EST)  Saturday May 23rd )  Just like Penn Relays week, this week we will have 2 contests that people can enter.  Both questions will center on the Danbury Dream invite.

Contest #1 - The 800 will be a hot event and could result in a Metro #1 as well as a few other records.  So simply pick the winning time for the 800 at the Danbury Dream Invite.  Week 9 winner Steven Lotti from New Hyde Park, NY

Contest #2 - Guess the distance of the winning throw in the hammer at the Danbury Dream Invite where many of the areas top throwers will be competing.  Week 9 winner Lucas Maher from Patterson, NY

Week 8 Contest  - (Entries must be recieved by 10pm (EST)  Friday May 15th )Another week and another simple prediction contest, but this time it will involve a US elite athlete.  At the Adidas Track Classic this weekend in California, Shalane Flanagan is rumored to be gunning for the US record for 5000 meters.  Simply predict what Flanagan will run this weekend for 5000m.   Be sure to include Week 8 in the subject line of your e-mail and include your name and hometown Week 8 winner  Leigh Dannhauser (Bronxville, NY)

Some other information: Flanagan already holds the US record at 14:44.80 from 2007.  The Adidas meet can be seen this weekend on ESPN2 on May 16th at 8pm – 10pm (EST)


Week 7 Contest - (Entries must be recieved by 10pm (EST)  Friday May 8th ) - Since the start of this weekly contest Connecticut, field events and to some extent females have been overlooked.  All of that is about to change.  Rachael Aliotta (Cheshire) dominated the shot put this past indoor season in Connecticut and sits as the top seed at this Hartford Public Schools Invite.   This week’s contest is easy – predict what the winning performance in the girls shot put at this weekend’s at Hartford.  Be sure to include Week 7 in the subject line of your e-mail and include your name and hometown Week 7 winner Philip Cawkwell (PA)


Week 6 Contest - (Entries must be recieved by 10pm (EST)  Friday May 1st )This upcoming weekend Dyestat Metro will be on site at the Crusader Relays at Monroe Woodbury HS (NY).  One of the featured events each year is the BOYS “JAMES F. KELLY” MEMORIAL 1500M.  This week’s contest is simple simply predict the winning time.  Be sure to include Week 6 in the subject line of your e-mail and include your name and hometown.  Week 6 winner Casey Mackay (CT)

Week 5 Contest  - This being the big Penn Relays weekend will mean 2 contests, one for the girls events and one for the boys.   Each contest will have its own dead line - you can enter both contests BUT you must send 2 different e-mails and you must put the correct contest name in the subject line of your e-mail.  Be sure to also include your name and home town in the e-mail.  Winners will be posted Sunday May  3rd.   Week 5 winners Kevin Liang (NY) and Chris Callinan (NJ)

Week 5 Contest #1 (Entries must be recieved by 10pm (EST)  Wednesday April 22nd ) - Guess the winning time of the HS Girls DMR at the Penn Relays.

Week 5 Contest #2 (Entries must be recieved by 10pm (EST)  Friday April 24th ) - Guess the time of the top USA team in the Boys Championship of America 4 x 800 at the Penn Relays

Week 4 Contest  (Entries must be recieved by 10pm (EST)  Sunday April 19th ) - Dyestat Alum Ryan Hall (a 2008 Olympian) is the USA’s hope for a win at next Monday’s Boston marathon.  This week’s question is guess Ryan Hall ‘s time at the Boston Marathon. Be sure to include hours, minutes and seconds in your guess. The person closest to guessing Hall’s time will win a Dyestat Metro T-Shirt. The race takes place on Monday (4/20) so all entries must be received by Sunday (4/19) night at 10pm. Be sure to include Week 4 in the subject line of your e-mail and include your name and hometown. - Week 4 winner - Paul Herriott of Keizer OR

Week 3 Contest (Entries must be recieved by 10pm (EST)  Friday April 10th )– In the weeks prior to the start of the outdoor season the Metro staff got together and came up with a few “Points to Ponder” – one of the questions was would a New York boy run under 9:00 for 3200/2 miles this spring. This weekend Bobby Andrews (Shoreham Wading River) who ran 9:06.68 at the Nike Indoor Nationals will head west for the Aracdia Invite. The Arcadia Invite is year in year out one of the best meets in the nation bringing together athletes from all parts of the USA. This week’s  question is – What will Bobby Andrews run in the Invitational 3200 (7:35pm pacific time so 10:35 in the east Saturday night) at the Arcadia Invite? Be sure your answer is to the 100th's of a second!!! - WEEK 3 WINNER - Holland Florian

Week 2 Contest (Entries must be recieved by 10pm (EST)  Friday April 3 ) - This week’s question will not be a simple prediction like last week, but will two steps to answer the question and a chance to win a Dyestat Metro t-shirt. You will have to use our new stat program TFX.  TFX allows you to find USA, Regional or State #1’s and performance lists from the current season and the past. 
Now this week’s question: Using TFX, Who held the US lead this past indoor season for a race that covered 470.5882355 smoots? Yes smoots – for those who do not know a smoot is a unit of measure of distance. Since there will surely be a number of you who get this question correct the tie breaker will be selected at random by those who submit a correct answer. Remember that all entries must be e-mailed by 10pm (EST) on Friday April 3rd to be considered. Be sure in your e-mail you put Week 2 in the subject line and include your name and home town with your answer.  WEEK 2 WINNER - Bryan Pfalzgraf - Brian was chosen at random from the 77 correct answers recieved.

Week 1 Contest (Entries must be recieved by 10pm Friday March 27 ) - What place will the USA Jr men's team place this weekend at the World Cross Country Championships in Amman Jordan?
