Girls 4x800m Relay:
3heats: 1st slowest 2nd middle 1st fast heat
Heat 1: The pack went out in 70, about 500m in Tri Valley(NY) emerged as your early leader, 2:26 on the leadoff for Tri Valley with Scarsdale (NY) breathing down its neck. Tri Valley held on to run a 2:33 second leg and stay in the lead handing off right around 5:00 for the halfway mark. They stayed there until about 400 to go when Nanuet made a big move with a big anchor leg to move in the lead and hold on to win the race in 9:58
Heat 2: Race took off at a quick pace, the pack went through 200m in approx 32 secs and through the quarer in 67 with Pawling (NY), Valley Central (NY) Somers (NY) running 1-2-3. 2:21 for Pawling on the leadoff leg to hand off in first. Valley Central moved into the lead on the second lap and came through the 400m in a modest 70 seconds. She went on to split 2:26 and hand off in first. With the help of a big 2:21 3rd leg ofr newburgh they got the anchor in first with 50m to spare. VC however stalked down newburgh and with 250 to go moved back into the lead and held on for the win. 1-Valley Central 2-Bronxville "B" 3- Newburgh
Heat 3:(fast heat) at 200m Warwick is the early leader out in 32 seconds...Warwick and Bronxville continued to come through the 400m mark in 66 seconds leading a big pack. With 200 to go Suffern moved into the lead and at the handoff it was Suffern in 2:19 followed by Bronxville, Arlington, then Warwick in 2:21 at the exchange. Suffern and Bronxville went out pretty quick on the next leg and really separated themselves from the field coming around in 66. With 250 to go Bronxville made a decisive move and handed off in 1st with the clock reading 4:38 halfway done...9:16 pace. On the third leg Bronxville really started to pull away out in 66 but Suffern was trying hard to close and they were out in 64 making up ground. Bronxville had a 50m lead at the handoff after a 2:15 leg and it was all Bronxville on the anchor. She brought it home in 2:13 for a new Dyestatmetro #1 of 9:06.20 the splits were:
Brutton: 2:19.7
Flannery: 2:18.5
Hudson: 2:15.6
Meyers: 2:12.8
Boys 4x800: 4 heats. slowest to fastes
Heat 1: Farrell won in 8:36....Colin Seidl of Sullivan West..us#2 3k steepler led off 2:05.2
Heat 2: Minisink's Jake Albino hands off in first in 2:00....Suffern would go on to win the event in 819 with Carmel finishing 2nd in 8:23
Heat 3: This race went out fast, with Pearl River jumping to the early lead coming through in a swift 58 seconds...the race was really strung out at 600 coming through in 1:27.high..at the first exchange it was Pearl River in 1:57 closely tailed by Byram Hills in 1:59. Byram Hills handed off in 1st place after 2 legs with the clock reading 3:59 closely followed by Suffern..after going out in a modest 63..this gave St Peters the opporitunity to start closing ground and with a big 3rd leg they did just that and at the third handoff it was 6:05 showing on the clock. Pearl River faded way back on this leg. On the anchor Suffern really pulled away and won the event in 8:06.80..St peters 2nd in 8:11 and Pearl River 3rd in 8:13 after a 1:57 anchor by Mike Hickey after going out in 55 seconds.
Heat4: Fast Heat. After Kellenberg really taking out the race..they were along at 200m after goiong out in 26 seconds...they held on through 400m in 56s closely followed by iIona and a chase pack around 59 seconds. After a slow opening quarter for Warwick's Dan Ramirez of 60s...he came back with 200 to go en route to a 57 second 2nd lap to hand off in first for Warwick Valley in 1:57.high. Tim Luthin took the stick and held his lead solo..he split 1:55.5, with Fordham Prep stalking in second. Dave Dewan took the stick and took it out quick in 54.x with Fordham having rejoined him. Arlington was now 25m and moving up after a nice leg by Adam Dohtery. Warwick and Fordham would hand off neck and neck into the anchor after a 1:58 spilt by Dewan.....Arlington was now closing fast with John Mueller on the anchor and at the bell three of them were neck and neck. Mueller made a move on the back straight into the lead but Armand would not give it up. As they rounded the turn for home..Fordham swung it wide into lane 2 and Warwick and Fordham battled the last 100m..ending in a dead heat at 7:46.40 each with the win going to Fordham. Fordhams anchor Mike Jennings had split 1:54.low and Warwicks anchor was 1:55.0 for Charlie Armand. Was a terrific race. Sean Haplin of Iona prep split 1:52.7 on the anchor for the fastest split.
Boys 4x100m relay
Newburgh won the event in about 42 seconds on the dot. Monroe Woodbury was second and New Rochelle was third all under 43 seconds.
Girls 4x400m:
In the next fastest heat, Burnt Hills placed 6th overall running 4:01.9 with splits of 59,62,61.8, and 58.x on the anchor they really dominated their heat,
In the fast heat, Warwick Valley won the event in 3:56 thanks in part to a huge anchor by sophmore Jaqueline Kasal running 57.1 on the end. Suffern led off in 58.x followed by John Jay and Warwick...2:58 at halfway was all John Jay with Warwick moving up with a 60.2 2nd leg by Astorino. The clock read 2:58 at the least and final exhange when Kasal ran down Newburgh's anchor. They were second in 3:58 with suffern 3rd in 4:00
Boys 4x400m:
Warwick Valley won the 2nd fastest heat in around 3:22.high/ 3:23.low. In the fast heat..it was FarreLl, Newburgh, Iona Prep and St Anthonys. Fordham handed off in 1st tied with Newburgh after a 50.x opening leg, at the halfway point the clock read 1:40 and Fordham was in the lead followed by Newburgh and St Anthonys one second back. After the 3rd leg Fordham handed off at 2:29 on the clock with Newburgh, Iona and FarreLl stalking them at 2:30. Fordham had a big anchor to win the race in 3:18.6. St Anthonys was second in 3:19 and Newburgh with the absense of Randy Patterson was 3rd in 3:20
Mens Open mile:
8 people were on the line ...right off the line Bobby Mack jumped to the front to assume rabbiting duties...he brought the field through perfectly in 60 seconds through 409m right on pace..the field lined up going Mack, Furst then Lamastro for much of the race coming throuhg in 2:00..and at 1150m Mack stepped off and they were 3:01.x throuhg 1200m for Furst. On the backstretch a big move was made into the lead but with 200 to go..furst battled back and regained the lead and won the race...falling short of the 1000cash prize but running an impressive 4:02 nonetheless.
Field Event highlights
- Cory Duggan (Farrell) takes pole vault on fewer misses over Dan Fugazot (Monroe Woodbury) as each cleared 14' .
- Also winning on fewer misses is Sean Reilly (Arlington_ in taking the high jump after clearing 6' 4" over Jourdan White (Fordham Prep)
- Clarkstown South's Joe Fox wins the shot by over 2' with a winning toss of 52' 6" over Kaydon Davis (New Rochelle) and Abel Gilet
- Charlotte Pope (New Rochelle) continues to dominate the shot put in the Hudson Valley winning with a throw of 38' 2.75"
- The Metro's #1 high jumper Sarah Palmer took the event with a jump of 5' 6"

Boys 4x800m Relay:
Coming into this event 8 teams have already Run under 8:00 with Arlington the leading entry at 7:48. New Rochelle is the next team at 7:49.54, with their squad led by Aki Bajulaiye, who is just coming off a 1:54.3 open 800m run at his Section 1 state qualifier. Iona prep will be dangerous as well, with three solid legs and Sean Haplin on the end, with a resume this season which includes a 1:52 relay split and a 3:03 1200 split as well, he could push a 1:50x split if he’s on his game. Monsignor Farrell is the 4th seed coming in and will certainly be in the mix, they won the Arcadia 4x8 this year and have a lot of talent on this squad. Fordham will definitely push up front in this race as the 5th seed and will most likely place higher than that, they’re anchor Jennings(1:56.4) is the real deal and not to be taken lightly. Warwick Valley is led by two sophomores, Pierre Armand (1:56) and Tim Luthin (4:16) with US#3 2k steeplechaser Dave Dewan on the relay as well stepping down to the 800. This team has much potential and if everything is put together they could have a big breakout race. St. Joes By the Sea is a young team led by Daniel Zaccariello who has run 1:54.9 this year. They return ¾ legs from this relay next year so watch out! This race will also feature some killer B teams as well who could maybe dip under 8 minutes, Farrell’s B team comes in seeded at 8:05, St. Joes B team comes in at 8:10 along with Iona and Fordham and 8:11. Farrell even has a c team listed at 8:11 which shows tremendous depth. This race will definitely be fast up front and could produce a 7:40-type 4x8.
Girls 4x800m relay:
Coming into this event, the top 2 seeds are under 9:20 and 7 teams total under 9:30. The field is headed by the Bronxville squad, lead by Henriette Meyers who has already run 2:13 low this season in an open 800. This team has run 9:09 and maybe if some other teams step up and can push them, the 9:00 barrier is not out of the question. The second seed is Warwick Valley who has quite a reputation at this relay, winning the event the last 2 years and holding the meet record at well. Some individuals to look out for are Elizabeth Marvin of Rhinebeck, who is seeded 6th who has run 4:38 for 1500m this year and Hayley McMahon of Arlington who had run 4:37 for 1500m this year too. Hopefully some teams can step up and run with Bronxville and this race could turn into a barn burner!
Boys 4x400m relay:
This race will definitely be the highlight of the night, with 9 teams seeded at under 3:24, this one will be FAST. The field is headed by Ramapo and Newburgh who are both listed at 3:18. Newburgh has had an unreal indoor/outdoor campaign this year so far and we will see if they can overtake the #1 seed. However, don’t count out teams like Farrel who are listed at 3:20 , led by James Farley who has run well under 50seconds in the open 400. Fordham Prep, seeded 5th does not have Keefer listed in their line-up but if things do change, he has run 48.5 open this year! He could split 47.x Newburgh’s Randy Patterson is coming off a hot meet at secion 9 where he just ran 48.7 in the 400m. This race ladies and gentlemen will be fast and exciting , we could see a 3:15 4x4 here.
Girls 4x400m relay
Newburgh is the top seed coming in and is ranked 6th in the state when they ran 3:53 at the Loucks Games. They’ll be anchored by Chante Coppedge who had run 56.9 open. Warwick Valley is seeded second and will definitely challenge, anchored by Kristen Jados who has split 57.x before and is ready for a big run. Ursuline and John Jay are also seeded under 4:00. Boys 4x100m relay
Ramapo is the top seed at 42.84, 9 other teams besides them have run under 44 seconds so it should be close. Monroe-Woodbury 2nd seed will be anchored by Justin McCollin. 7 teams between 43.0 and 43.7 should be close!
Girls 4x100m relay
Top 3 seeds are all under 50 seconds. Ramapo , Newburgh and Warwick are no. 13, 15, and 20 in the state as of now. Dyestat metro #1 time is 47.17
Mens Open Mile:
1. Stephen Furst- NC state graduate, 2008 penn relays 5k champion, Indoor ACC 5k/10k champion, 4:01.95 this year in OD mile at penn
2. Mike Kerrigan- villanova alum, 3:42.4 1500m pr to go with 1:51.0 800 wheels
3. Gered Burns- UofA alum and assistant coach now, has run 1:47.97 and 3:47.78 for 1500m
4. Nick Stenuf- member of Syracuse chargers track club. 3:47.59 1500m and 4:04 for the full mile this year at penn
5. Alex Grout- Shen and SUNY Oneonta alum. Had run 4:11 for the mile
6. Justin Wood- Head coach at suny delhi….also a member of the Syracuse chargers track club. Ran 9:03 in the 3kst at penn this year and has run 3:53 for 1500m
7. Andrew Clyne- alum to the area…runs for UNC Greensboro now and run 3:51.9 for 1500m and split 1:52.9 in HS at this very meet.
8. Anthony Lamastro- Pope John XXVIII grad. Redshit at George Mason has run 4:08 for the full mile. Was a millrose miler in high school.
9. Mike Panchella- Also a red shirt at george mason, has run 1:48.69 for 800m and 3:52.6 for 1500m
10. Aidan Walsh- has run 4:43 and has one of the fastest Pr’s in the field.
11. Alex Wechsler- having a strong season, coming off of a 3:46 showing at Icahn Stadium two weeks ago.
12. Michael Didio- Grad of St. Josephs Univeristy and has run 4:06 for the full mile
