West Windsor-Plainsboro North NJ and Nick Vena of Morristown NJ got what they came for, but the national record attempt by Morris Hills NJ went crashing to the track. West Windsor-Plainsboro North, with a blazing anchor carry of 4:11.3 from sophomore Jim Rosa, burned up the track with a US #1 and US #4 all-time 10:07.21 to win the boys distance medley relay on Tuesday night at the 72nd Eastern States Championships at the Armory Track and Field Center. No matter what race they are running or who steps to the line to challenge them, the result is usually the same for Southern Regional NJ and Whitney Fountain of Pelham Prep NY. Southern and Fountain both tore apart the track by running their second US #1 times of the season to highlight the 72nd Eastern States Championships on Tuesday night. FULL GIRLS REPORT

- Jillian Smith brings Southern Regional from a distant 3rd to the win in the girls DMR with a 4:48.5 1600 leg. Southern wins in a US #1 of 11:48.61. Shenendehowa (NY) is 2nd after leading for most of the race in a US #2 11:51.28 and Burnt Hills (NY) 3rd in a US #3 11:58.99. Southern's time is the #10 in US History. Later in the evening, Southern returns to take the 4 x 800 in 9:13.30
- Ninth-grader Kyle Plante (Colonie, NY) takes the hurdles in 8.20. Pierre Darisme (Rahway, NJ) wins the boys event in 7.40. 300 meter national leader Jermaine Brown (Medger Evers - Middle College, NY) takes the boys 55 in 6.31. National 55 leader Dominique Booker (Immaculate Conception, NJ) takes the girls 55 title in 7.01
- Michelle Quimby (Shenendehowa, NY) takes the girls pole vault with a 12' 0" based on fewer misses over Nicole Pompei (Hanover Park, NJ)
- North Babylon (NY) junior Vanessa Stewart is the best in the girls shot put, winning with a throw of 45' 3.25"
- 23' 0" is good enough for Maurice Easterling (Stepinac, NY) to win the long jump
- Medger Evers Middle College (NY) has the fastest boys 4 x 200 time in the trials 1:29.91 and the best girls time as well 1:43.70

- US 300 leader Whitney Fountain (Columbus, NY) adds the US #1 in the 200 with a meet record 23.77 win
- National 1000 meter record holder Robby Andrews (Manalapan, NJ) takes the mile in 4:12.31 after taking the lead at 600 meters and pulling away for a 5 second win
- Amber Allen (Passaic Tech, NJ) was 3rd at the NJ Meet of Champs, but blazed a US #2 55.35 to just catch Colonie (NY) freshman Kyle Plante 55.44. Just 3 days after winning the NJ Championship in the 400, Andrew Burt (Lacey) wins the two lap race in 48.66
- North Shore (NY) 9th grader Samantha Nadel takes the girls 2 mile in a swift 10;49.96
- Still on the comeback trail after being out a few weeks with a medical issue, Jenn Clayton (Suffern, NY) wins the long jump with a 19' 5.5" leap
- Rolston Braithwaite (Trenton, NJ) leaps a US #6 in the triple jump with a distance of 48-5 1/2 to win by 3.5" over Camden's Wayne Walls
- Sean Halpin Iona Prep (NY) upsets Terrance Livingston (Great Neck South, NY) to win the 800 in 1:54.46.
- Ariann Neutts of Roxbury holds of NJ rival Lanie Thompson of Voorhees to win girls 800 in a Morris County record 2:13.49. Thompson gets second in a Hunterdon County recod 2:14.21.
