3/30-4/5 Notables
  • Texas Thunder 16 of the new US leaders came from the Texas Relays, with a dozen from Texans and 4 from out-of-staters, including 3 relay marks by Long Beach Poly CA.
  • Can you top this? The boys 4x100 US#1 was revised three times, including twice at the Dekalb (Ga.) County meet by Miller Grove GA (led by US#1 100 man Ken Gilstrap) before Spring Westfield TX made the final statement Saturday.  The boys 1600 also went down twice, with Bill Matthews TN topping on Saturday the Derek Wehunt FL mark from Friday
  • Turning a negative into a positive Both of Chalonda Goodman's US-leading sprint performances Saturday came into headwinds.  TX hurdler Cameron LaCour, on the other hand, shows what can happen when the wind blows your way as he dropped his US#1 from his neg wind 13.93 to a 13.48 (+1.9)
  • Upping the ante Much like Wayne Davis NC did indoors, Kori Carter CA has continued to revise her US#1 400H.  Her third entry this spring, 59.89, is her first foray under a minute
  • Shot suprise If you'd just heard about the mark itself - US#1 72-02.25 shot at the Texas Relays - you probably would have assumed it was NIN champ and indoor US leader Stephen Saenz who had the monster throw.  Instead, it was TX rival Hayden Baillio, with a PR of 68-07.50 coming in, who beat Saenz and moved to #6 all time.
  • Axis of dominance To say Texans and Californians dominate the girls all-time 4x100 list would be an understatement.  Going into this year, 29 of the top 30 were from those states.  With their US#1 45.38, tied for #21 all-time, Eleanor Roosevelt MD became the fastest ever from anywhere else
