Summary: Richardson didn't know what type of success she would have this indoor season in the 800m. She is primarily a miler and decided to run the 800 to improve her speed endurance. Little did she know, she is undefeated in the half-mile and decided to contest the event in a championship format. The result was a deliberate early pace that came down to a final kick in which the longer legged Richardson held off Hogan steps from the finish line for the victory.

800 meter boys class AA summary:
Lucas Junk of Galesburg came in as a premeet favorite. Jeff Woolridge of Jersey came out with the lead after 200 in 29 seconds. Then he let a few people take the lead. With 200 yards to go he again takes the lead. Woolridge kicked it at the end to win over Lucas Cherry of Carbondale. "My strategy was to lay back a bit and then kick at the end." Woolridge came in with a seed time of 2:00.51 but won this race today. |
