Summary: Donner won the vault early then went after the event record of 10-9. Donner decided to reach for 10-10 and sole possesion of the record. She had three valiant efforts before settling for the win and personal best of 10-6. Afterwards, a happy but not satisfied Donner said, "I moved to a 13-foot pole but I wasn't quite used to it."

Boys Class A Summary: The last 4 competitors were Alex Freshour of Olympia, Cody Klein of Sparta, Scott Mammoser of Newtwon, and Matt Bane of Rochelle. All of them with the exception of Freshour failed to clear 15'0". Bane of Rochelle barely missed 15'0" on his final attempt. Only Freshour was able to clear 15'0" easily. He cleared the meet record height of 15'8" with one attempt. The previous meet record was by Bryan Clarke of Mahomet SEymour who cleared 15-7 in 1995. "I felt great the crowd and especially my teammates helped me. I'm not sure if I had more room when I cleared 15'8" but I'm happy....I finished 3rd in state last year... my goal is to try to get to 16'3" outdoors....Logan Pfibsen of Streater Township shoud get 16'0"" |
