Pre-meet favorite Zach Riley of Herrin easily cleared 6'6" on his first attempt and same with Mitch Williams of Greenville. The bar was raised to 6'7" with the last two pre-meet favorites. Mitch Williams of Greenville missed on his attempts at 6'7".

At the end is was Riley alone trying to reach an incredible height of 7'0". Depite the entire stadium of an estimated 1500 fans, Riley missed his attempts at 7'0".

According to Tony Jones of Dye Stat, Zach Riley is the best high jumper out of any class.

"I want to break the school record of 7'2"" said Riley.

Riley did not place at the state meet last year, but if he contiunes his effort he will have a great chance of maybe even winning state.

Zach Riley is probably only 5'7" but he easily defeated much taller opponents on this day.
