DyeStat Preview
of the Races

In the process of putting together the Great American Cross Country Festival, meet director Rick Hill has become intimately familiar with the current US cross country scene.  Here are Rick's views of what to expect September 25 in Charlotte -- no guarantees except exciting action.

BOYS TEAM - BOYS INDIVIDUAL - GIRLS TEAM - GIRLS INDIVIDUAL

OVERVIEW

By Rick Hill

The races in the Great American Cross-Country Festival will feature top regional match-ups and incredible head to head competition at a level previously unseen in high school sports. The highlight of the day will be a match-up of three of the top five girls' programs and five of the boys' top eight.

This girls' race will be one of the most exciting events in the history of high school sports. Saratoga Springs of New York should prove that it is still America's running dynasty in a very close win over Colerain from Cincinnati, Ohio and Bingham from South Jordan, Utah.

The boys' race will exemplify the incredible depth of Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) from Lincroft, NJ. CBA is truly one of the nation's top programs, but will be challenged by four other top national teams. If CBA is to be upset, it will be through the outstanding front-runners of Beaver River, NY; The Woodlands, TX; Katella, Anaheim, CA; and Campbell County, Gillette, WY.

Look for CBA's depth to prove that they are in a class by themselves with a solid win as a result of packing their top 5 or 6 runners into a very short span of 30 seconds or less.
