Is Boys a Dobson-Rohatinsky show?

1999 Footlocker West Region Preview (12/1/99) With Josh Spiker out injured, this is shaping up to be
a 2 man race between Dobson and the defending champion
Rohantinsky. Both have won all their races by wide
margins. Despite the record smashing runs by Webb and
Ritzenheim last week, both Dobson and Rohantinsky are
still serious threats to win the Footlocker Final.
Reyes is also undefeated, but hasn’t faced the level
of competition as the other 2. Harper has only lost
to Rohantinsky this season. Travis Laird continues to
be the most improved runner in the West Region and
posted the fastest time of the day in the Cal state
meet. We will find out Saturday if he has improved
enough to run with the very best. After running 2
consecutive sub 9 3200s outdoors, Escobar would like
to have the same kind of impact over hill and dale.
Montana and Utah are now 2 of the strongest states in
the country for high school distance running and both
states have several runners including Vidal and Andrus
who are capable of getting some of the 8 qualifying
spots. Note that at least 30 of the 120 runners listed
probably won’t run the race, therefore most of the
guys who do run are likely to finish higher than I
have them listed. Notes: FF-place in last year’s Footlocker Final
