Beth Androski, sr Hackensack NJ - third in New Jersey Meet of Champions with 18:55 at Holmdel, only 11 seconds behind Donohue.

Laurel Burdick, so Fayetteville-Manlius NY - unknown in 1998, undefeated in 1999; decisive winner of New York Federation meet and Manhattan Invitational Eastern States Girls Championship.

Tracey Bruksieck, so Homer NY - got on the Northeast radar screen with a strong 3rd in New York Federation meet ahead of better known stars such as Coon, Cappello, and Kramer.

Emily Buzzell, fr Middletown MD - young leader of Middletown's nationally ranked team ended season with a flourish with a record 18:57 tour of the exceedingly difficult Hereford MD course (3 mi), first girl ever under 19 minutes there. Was double gold winner at AAU Junior Olympics in Cleveland (Young Girls 1500 and 3000) last August.

Lisa Cappello, sr Starpoint NY - finished a fine campaign with a 5th at New York Federation meet (18:57).

Danielle Coon, jr Saratoga NY - veteran leader of Saratoga's perennial national power; 4th in New York Federation meet (18:52); 39th Northeast 1998.

Erin Donohue, jr Haddonfield NJ - New Jersey champion; national scholastic outdoor 2-mile champion; 2nd Northeast 1998; 17th US finals 1998.

Shalane Flanagan, Marblehead MA - turned plenty of heads with 17:08 in Eastern Mass championships at Franklin Park in Boston, 4 seconds faster than the NCAA Division 1 regional winner on the same course the same day; followed that up with 17:54 on Northfield mountain for a 53-second romp in the Massachusetts State Meet; 20th Northeast 1998.

Lindsey Gallo, sr Howell NJ - the fourth New Jersey girl under 19 minutes at Holmdel in the Meet of Champions; 81st Northeast 1998.

Jill Hajec, Caesar Rodney DE - Delaware champion in course record 19:33. (not on entry list provided to DyeStat)

Caitlin Hickin, sr Queensbury NY - runner up to Burdick in New York Federation meet.

Danielle Jelley, sr Clarke NY - only 1 second slower than Burdick in NYPHSAA championships (18:59 in different class); 31st Northeast 1998.

Jen Kramer, sr Colonie NY - injured most of season, but coming on strong now; led Colonie to big New York Federation victory over Saratoga; improved from Colonie's 5th to 1st in last 3 races; 76th Northeast 1998. (Kramer not on entry list provided to DyeStat)

Josianne Lauber, sr Oxford PA - Pennsylvania AAA champion in fine time of 18:00.

Jillian Mastroianni, sr Sayville NY - defending regional champion (17:54 in 1998); injured part of this season and not in old form; 3rd NYPHSAA Class B behind Jelley and Hickin;

Jessica Schenck, Fitch CT - Connecticut Open champion; just missed qualifying for nationals in 1998 with 9th place in Northeast.

Lauren Shaffer, jr W. Allegheny PA - Pennsylvania AA champion in 18:04, only 4 seconds slower than Lauber in AAA.

Lily Thomas, sr Somerville NJ - dogged Donohue in both the Group and Meet of Champions races in New Jersey, losing by only 3-4 seconds each time.

Codi Vachon, jr Manchester Central NH - this year's leader of the great Manchester Central squad; winner of the New England Championships.  

Katie Twarog, jr Colonie NY - No. 1 on national top five Colonie most of the season, traded wins with Danielle Coon; 22nd Northeast 1998. (not on entry list provided to DyeStat)

Tenke Zoltani, so Dulaney MD - Maryland 4A champion; split two meetings with Emily Buzzell and set a short-lived record 19:04 at Hereford 3 hours before Buzzell's race in a different class.
