Cross Country 1999

Wahsatch Invitational

9/25/99 at Cottonwood HS
2.94 miles, very hilly - good weather

Golden Harper of Orem set a course record 15:02 (2.94 mi), leading the first four across the finish line within 21 seconds of each other in the No. 1 seed race.   Second was Duncan Lindquist (Judge Memorial) and third was Brett Andrus of Mountain View.

Mountain View beat Orem in the boys team competition 10-19 in unusual scoring.  There were separate races for each team position.  Mountain View came close to a perfect score of seven -- i.e., each runner on the team winning his race.  But after seeds 3 through 7 won their races, Mountain View's Brock Call was beaten by one second in the No. 2 seed race by Romney Stevens of East.   Then Andrus finished third in the No. 1 seed race.

In the girls races, Davis beat Mountain View in a squaker, 17-18.   Mountain View star Heather Houle missed the race because of a respiratory infection.  The No. 1 seed race was won by Phebe Ko (East) in 17:59.57, only the second time sub-18 minute mark in the history of this meet.
