Region One
Davis High boys and girls won the team titles in the Region One
Championships held at Layton City Park. Depth paid off for the Lady
Darts as they placed their top seven runners in the top 15 with a 1:19
gap. Davis finished with 36 points to edge Cottonwood for the team
title. Laytons Nellie Hammons won the individual title in 19:07 as she
outran Davis Emily King (19:13) and Viewmonts Stephanie Bierwolf
(19:16). In the boys individual battle, Skylines Shaun Vernon led from
start to finish in clocking a 16:10 victory over the 3.0 mile course.
Davis Justin King was the only challenger, finishing eight seconds
behind Vernon. Davis 51 points defeated the rapidly improving
Northridge Knights, whose second place finish was the highest in the
schools history.

Region Two
Bingham dominated both races at over the hilly 5000 meter course.
Laura Zeigle added to her long list of course records with a time of
18:43 to outdistance twin sister Jackie by 49 seconds. The remainder of
the Lady Miner runners packed together for a 34 second gap. Jeff
Bullock made it a Miner sweep as he covered the hilly, tough course in
16:48. Taylorsvilles Jacob Rushton ruined Binghams otherwise perfect
day as he placed second in 17:01. He kept Bingham from two-15 point
scores. Question? What is the lowest combined team score ever at a
region meet? A state meet?

Region Three
Orems girls halted Mountain Views six-year region streak as they
nipped the Lady Bruins 30-37. Mountain View sophomore Tiffany
Strickland covered the 3.0 mile course in 18:37 to win the individual
title. Orem swept four of the next five places to secure the win. The
number one ranked Mountain View boys reversed the order of finish as
they defeated Orem 22-45. The Tigers Golden Harper won the individual
title in 15:05, with the Bruins sweeping the next four spots. Mountain
Views top five had a 27 second split.

Region Four
Mountain Crests girls narrowly defeated Fremont, 33-36 for the team
title. The results for individual honors had the same result as
Mountain Crests Sheena Curtis won in 18:12 to clip Fremonts Heidi
Bouwhuis by three seconds. Logans boys had an easier time as they won
the team championship46-65 over Fremont. Roy junior Seth Pilkington was
the individual winner in a time of 15:22, 13 seconds ahead of Fremonts
Mark Lott.

Region Five
East swept team and individual titles over the 2.94 course at the
Cottonwood Complex. Phoebe Ko won the girls title by over a minute as
she toured the tough course in 17:56. Easts 27 points easily
outdistanced Highlands 55 in the team title race. Matt Hansen ran
15:23 to secure a 26 second victory over teammate Romney Stevens. The
Leopards won the boys title with 28 points, far ahead of Bountifuls 85.

Region Six
Provo swept all titles in the Region Six Championships held at Payson.
Provos Kassi Andersen was a 10-second winner over Spanish Forks
Christi Howell. The Lady Bulldogs finished with 37 points with American
Fork placing second with 67. Nationally ranked Josh Rohatinsky ran
14:49 to defeat Spanish Forks Colby Frazier, who crossed the line in
15:16. The Bulldogs also placed third, fourth and seventh to finish
with 37 points to once again defeat American Fork. The Cavemen tallied
65 to capture second place, just three ahead of Timpview.

The Ogden Tigers swept both boys and girls titles at the Weber County
Fairgrounds 3.1 mile course. Ben Lomonds Amy Beutler covered the
distance in 19:14 to secure a two second victory over Holli Lewis of
Bear River. The Lady Tigers of Ogden won the team title over Ben
Lomond, 46-58. Ogdens Denver Cook led the Tigers to the team title,
capturing the individual crown in 16:24. Ogden scored 43 points to Ben
Lomonds 57 in securing the team title.

Region Eight
Richfield won both team titles at the Region Eight Championships.
Emerys Nikki Luce won the ladies race in 21:36, a 20 second margin of
victory over Kirsten Monsen of Richfield. The Lady Wildcats scored 42
points to win the tight contest with Delta (46) and North Sanpete (51).
Topher Barnett continued his winning ways as he easily won the boys
title in 17:14. Barnett and his four scoring teammates placed in the
top seven to tally 22 points, easily winning the team title over Delta.

Region Nine
Cedar girls took a giant step towards their attempt to tie the record
for consecutive state titles as they swept the Region Nine Championships
with 21 points. Alisha Bezanson outran freshman Kine Bjerga of Canyon
View as she finished in 18:20 for a 16 second margin of victory.
Hurricane freshman Tony Jones was the individual winner for the boys in
15:38, with Pine Views David Sheeran placing second in 15:53. The team
title chase was a close one with Pine View finishing on top with 38
points. Hurricane (41) and Cedar (47) made it an extremely close
finish.

Grantsville girls placed six in the top eight to easily capture the
Region Twelve team title with 16 points. Traci Millward and Kyra Cox
went 1-2. The Cowboys made it a clean sweep of the team titles as the
boys won with a 25 point total. Mantis Cody Braithwaite was the winner
in the individual race with a narrow three second victory over
Grantsvilles Ben Hamatake. Cody covered the 3.0 mile course in 17:03.

Dugway won both team titles in the Region Fourteen Championships. West
Deserts Marcy Adamson was the individual girls champion in 27:05, 10
seconds ahead of Dugways Liz Dela Torres. Dugway, led by Layne
Ericksons victory in 20:15, swept the top five scoring spots to win the
boys title.

Region Seventeen
St. Joseph Coach Javier Chavezs offspring captured both individual
titles at Mount Ogden Park. Amanda won the ladies race in 20:32, 40
seconds ahead of Waterfords Trish Holmes. However, Waterford runners
placed second through sixth to with the title over St. Joseph. Manuel
Chavez led a Jayhawk 1-5 sweep as he finished in 16:31. Their 15 points
easily outdistanced runner up Waterford.
