Comments: Grade races but by using composite scoring (top 3 boys and top 3
girls) teams scores were produced. This meet provided a “snapshot” of team
strength, with Bonanza coming out ahead of Green Valley and Boulder City. The
meet would have been much closer but Coach Doyle of Green Valley rested his
9th and 10th graders; therefore, Green Valley’s #2 and #3 runners (Emily
Eskin and Jackie Favereau) didn’t run. Boulder City was likewise not at full
strength as Jack Hardy, Coach Momson’s #1 runner, sat out because of a minor
injury. Individual “fastest times of the day” were produced by Cory Jeffers
of Bonanza, who cruised home in 16:31 after hammering the first two miles in
10:10, and Abby Miller, who ran away with the field in her race and finished
38 seconds faster than Angela Peterson of the Meadows who had won the junior
girls race.
